Since 1976 Snell Acoustics has been a leader in loudspeaker
technology. At the company's nucleus is a group of highly trained
sound specialists, headed by company president Peter Snell, who are
dedicated to manufacturing a product to please the most demanding
audiophile.

Snell's success in such a short period is a result of continuous
research to advance the state of the art. Their Type A loudspeaker,
the result of three years of intensive development, is hailed
by critics as a major breakthrough in sound reproduction.

Now, after four more years of research, Snell has developed
the Type 1 loudspeaker, closing yet another link in perfecting the
sound reproduction chain. The Type 1 is specifically designed to
eliminate one of the major problems in previous loudspeakers: floor
reflected sound.

The Problem

As shown in the illustration , in conventional designs the
listener hears both direct sound from the speaker and reflected
sound from the floor. But the sound reflected from the floor
reaches the ear later than that directly from the speaker because

frequency response, most noticeably in the midrange frequencies,
causing inaccurate and unrealistic music reproduction.
