TAPE H EAD ADJUSTMENT

Before adjustment, check that the tape head is clean.
If it is dirty, clean its surface with a cotton swab moistened
with head cleaner fluid.

Insert a tape cartridge into the player and select a program
which contains high frequency sound (piano or strings).
Turn the tone and tweeter control knobs fully clockwise
(maximum high position).

Insert a screwdriver through the opening on top of the unit.
Turn the tape head height adjusting plate nut (see Ref.
No. 21 on Mechanism Exploded View) clockwise or counter-
clockwise until only one program is clearly heard without
crosstalk.

Insert a screwdriver through the opening on the bottom of
the unit. Turn the azimuth adjusting screw clockwise or
counter-clockwise until the clearest high frequency reprodu-
ction is obtained. if this adjustment does not improve the
high frequency reproduction, check for:

A. worn tape head

B. defective component in the audio circuit

C. a magnetized tape head
