Operating procedures

Operation

1 V Depress the POWER switch to switch on the powert

2 Select the broadcasting band (AM or FM) using the SELECTOR
switch.

3. FM reception
Rotate the tuning control and tune in the desired broadcasting
station. The optimum reception point is indicated when the two left
and right triangular tuning indicators light. When this point is reached,
the LOCKED indicator lights.

The station is not properly tuning in it one of these triangular indica-
tors does not light, Rotate the tuning control in the direction shown
by the indicator which has lighted.

The FM STEREO indicator lights when an FM stereo broadcast has
been picked up.

' If the MUTINGNODE switch is set to ON/AUTO when an FM sta»
tion with weak signals is tuned in. the built-in muting circuit may be
activated and the sound may be cut off. In cases like this, set this
Mitch to OFF/MONO.

' When highvtreouency range noise is found to be annoying during FM
stereo reception:

Set the NOISE CANCELEH snitch to the ON position. It the noise is
still annoying, depress the MUTING/MODE switch to theOFF/MONO
position and listen to the broadcast in mono.

AM reception

Rotate the tuning control and tune in the desired station, The optie
rnum reception point is indicated when the most individual SIGNAL
indicators light toward the rights

" The triangular tuning indicators do not light when an AM broadcast-
ing station istuned in.

' It the signals of the station are weak, the sound will tend to be lower
than that of other stations and the noise will increase. In particular,
there is a tendency for signals to weaken indoors, compared with out-
doors, and for noise from electrical appliances to be picked up. In
cases, try out the following:

@ Move the loop antenna and find the optimum reception direction,
Place the power cord and speaker cords at a distance from the antenna
cord

(2) Try changing the installation location,

% Erect an outdoor antenna.

4 Noise may sometimes be reduced by grounding. Connect a vinyl-
covered wire to the unit's GND terminal, attach a copper plate or
carbon rod to the other end and bury it deeply in the ground.
