3-WAY 3-SPEAKER HIGH" LINEARITY SPEAKER SYSTEM Now, a
compact, bookshelf-sized speaker system that reconfirms Sansuis ability
to achieve purer sound reproduction, the SP-150. Newest addition to
Sansuis famed High-Linearity speaker system series, the 40 watt SP-lSO
has to rank among the finest ever marketed in its power and price range.
A speaker system, per se, is designed to reproduce sound with as much
clarity and faithfulness as possible. The SP-150 does that to a degree
never before attained in a unit of its size, pouring forth rich, flawless
sound over a 40 to 20,000Hz frequency response range, Given a special,
newly designed LC crossover network-the like of which has never before

been invested in a compact system-the SP-lSO achieves noticeably bet-
ter distortion and damping factors. Incorporating a large, wet-type ferrite
magnet woofer, a 5 midrange and a 2 horn tweeter, plus a unique sep-
arate stepdown attenuator for the midrange and tweeter, the SP-150 is
able to accurately and vividly render every musical nuance. Like all speak-
er systems from Sansui, it is a product of countless hours of listening
tests in a great variety of acoustical environments. Encased in a rich,
acoustically perfect walnut cabinet, it is highlighted by Sansuis own
hand-carved "Kumiko" fretwork grille. The SP-150 is also available in
handsome teak wood as the SP-150T.

WOOFER: The large 10-inch woofer with super
powerful magnetic circuitry, employs a big 3%
diameter wet-type ferrite magnet. This, along
with the speaker's unique rolled cloth edge,
specially-selected cone paper and large domed
radiator enable it to reproduce distortion-free
sound from heavy lows to midranges with excel-
lent damping, and to offer particularly gratifying
high-frequency results.

MIDRANGE: The SPvlSOs midrange speaker
is designed with the realization that the mid-
range notes are the most important components
of music. A rear-sealed type with a large 'back
cavity, the unit shuts out intermodulation with
the woofer. The rise~time, resolution character-
istic and distortion factor of reproduced sound
have also been measurably improved.
TWEETER: High notes, often regarded as the
most important in determining the tone quality
of reproduced sound, are rendered by the SP-
150's 2-inch horn tweeter in their most natural
state. Lacking the unpleasantness of the metal-
lic treble notes often heard from other tweeters,
the reproduced sound boasts an excellent dis-
persion characteristic and transparency.
EXPENSIVE CROSSOVER NETWORK: The
SP-150 is equipped with an expensive, specially
developed crossover network, the best ever em-
ployed in a speaker system of this class. ' Suc-
cessfully overcoming the common faults of an
LC type network(such as distortion, attenuation
of high frequencies and the reduction of the
damping factor), the network almost eliminates
the need for a costly electronic crossover stereo
system which many advanced audiophiles lean
toward. It has prevented the deterioration of
speaker damping and also resulted in reduced
distortion, while improving the transient re-
sponse. The network is provided with a sepa»
rate tap type step-down attenuator for the mid-
range and tweeter which, unlike network type
attenuators, does not impair the speaker damp-
ing. These attenuators allow adjustment of out-
put levels of the midrange and tweeter in three
3dB steps of Soft, Natural, Clear.

vanced pipe duct bass reflex design of the SP-

lowrfrequency response at the same time. The
pipe duct design has also demonstrated its
superiority to the square duct type of acoustics.
700Hz AND 7,000Hz CROSSOVERS: The suc-
cessful development of a new high-performance
mldrange speaker has allowed Sansui engineers
to set the crossovers for the SP-lSO's three
speakers at 700Hz and 7,000Hz, ideal for the
reproduction of richer, more natural midranges.
IDEAL SPEAKER POSITIONING: Although
the placement of more than one speaker inside
a single enclosure always tends to induce mu-
tual interference, Sansui engineers successfully
avoided this by carefully studying the wiring,
the network and the speakers, and ideally posi-
tioning them. In addition, the SP-150's en-
closure is lined with a special sound absorbent
material, preventing the occurrence of harmful
standing wave.

AVAILABLE IN WALNUT OR TEAK: The
cabinet (enclosure) of a speaker system is one
of the important factors in the quality of sound
which emerges from it. The front bafile of the
SP-150 employs especially high-density chip-
board. while the cabinet proper utilizes equally
hard, thick chipboard as the base material for
greater strength and better sound absorption.
The possibility of unpleasant cabinet reso-
nance' is eliminated, permitting the repro-
duction of powerful, heavy bass notes. The
speaker system is available in a beautiful walnut-
finish as the SP-150, and in teak~finish as the
SP-150T.

HAND-CARVED KUMIKO GRILLE: The
SP-150 is provided with a uniquely Japanese,
hand-carved Kumiko fretwork grille. A product
of traditional Japanese handicraft, it adds
greatly to the decor of any room. The $P-150T
is covered with a thin, but sturdy light grey
cloth on the front and equally contributes to the
decor of your room.

ONE-TOUCH PUSHBUTTON TERMINALS:
One-touch pushbutton type connection termi-

nals are provided to facilitate connection to an:

amplifier. For your convenience, they are color
coded as to the plus and minus polarities. The
pushbutton design not only simplifies the neces-
sary connection but virtually eliminates the pos-
sibility of short-circuits.
