SANSUI SH-15 STEREO DYNAMIC HEADPHONES There are two
types of people when it comes to enjoying stereo sound through head-
phones. Some prefer total isolation of the ears from any sounds except
those coming from the speakers withinthe phones. The shape of the ear-
pieces, thickness of the padding materials, overall weight and other physi-
cal aspects of such phones are all designed to increase that isolation.
Naturally, speakers used in them offer optimum results in such sealed
acoustic chambers.

Other people prefer headphones which allow some of the natural sounds
of their listening room to reach their ears while listening to stereo. The
type of headphones which allow this are very light in weight and free the
listener from the physically and psychologically oppressive feeling which
can sometimes result from long hours of listening via the heavy, isolated
type of set.

Sansui makes both kinds for both types of people. Each has its specific
advantages But both do give the listener the opportunity to listen to
whatever stereo program source he likes at whatever volume level he
prefers, and in more or less complete privacy. The SH-15 is of the latter,
non-isolating or "hear-through" type of headphone The total weight is
only 260 grams (less than 10 ounces) but the SH-15 contains full-range

dome speakers which deliver full rich sounds over the complete audio
frequency spectrum with accuracy and a superior tonal quality.

Each dome speaker in the SH-15 is expressly designed by Sansui for
use in these back-vented, non-isolating type of headphones. Each features
an extra-thin polyester film diaphragm and a copper-clad aluminum wire
bobbin-less voice coil. along with a copper-plated magnetic circuit. The
overall design is a super-efficient way to minimize the mass while allowing
true high fidelity responses to emerge undistorted.

Each speaker features very flat bass response and extended treble res-
ponse thanks to its low-mass. high velocity design. The wide, flat frequency
responses assure very convincing, solid bass notes as well as crisp and
transparent treble tones.

The SH-15 features a freely adjustable headband, actually made up of two
bands which open symmetrically as they are adjusted. The earpads are
both readily detachable and extra light, yet the soft but tough urethane
materials from which they are made assure extra-long life and soil-free
appearance.
