SOLID STATE REVERBERATION AMPLIFIER Now a whole new
dimension is added to the rich sounds of Sansui stereo. This double pick-
up type reverberation unit makes it possible. It brings to the living room
the vibrant, echo chamber effect normally found only In professional re-
cording studios. Reproduced sound now gets greater depth, realism and
color than was ever before possible. Compact and easy to use, the Sansui
RA-500 offers a continuously adjustable reverberation time with visual

indication. It can handle two tape recorders simultaneously and allows you
to add echo effects either during recording or playback. It also can give
greater presence to records, radio broadcasts or to your own voice.
Designed for maximum performance with other Sansui components, the
RA-SOO can be used in any quality stereo system. Useable worldwide.
Ask your dealer for a personal demonstration.

NATURAL REVERBERATION: The RA-500's
double pickup type reverberation unit far sur-
passes in professional performance the effect
attainable with the old single pickup type. In
the Sansui system, there is a convergence of
sound from two channels, resulting in a far
more natural echo effect than conventional
systems produce. It works this way: direct
signals which have been passed through the
preamplifier meet and melt with opposite chan-
nel signals to which reverberation has been
added. The composite result is richer stereo,
stereo with a kind of super enriched resonance.
CONTINUOUSLY ADJUSTABLE REVERBERA-
TION TIME: A front panel time control governs
the delay between the instant the recorded
sound is heard and when the reverberation
effect is imposed. The duration of the added
effects can also be regulated within a 1.9 to
3.2 second framework at 1kHz.

EXCEPTIONAL VERSATILITY: Stereo enthusi-
asts will appreciate the variety Of ways in which
the RA-500 can heighten their enjoyment. First,
reverberation can be added to the sound of any
program source-phonograph, tuner or tape
recorder. Secondly, simultaneous recording and
monitoring of such enriched sound can be ac-
complished with a three-head tape recorder, and
monitoring such sound as it is about to be
recorded is possible with a two-head tape
recorder. Since the RA-SOO is equipped with
two tape monitor circuits, another possibility is
to add reverberation to the sound from one
tape recorder and monitor it while transferring
it to the other, as shown below. Further, with
the help of two stereo amplifiers and four
speaker systems, the unit can produce a quasi
4-channel stereo effect.

ADD REVERBERATION DURING RECORDING
OR DURING PLAYBACK: Another important
front panel control is the Reverberation Mode
switch, which permits the operator to add re-
verberation effects either while making a record-
ing or during playback.

RAINBOWED REVERBERATION INDICATOR:
Two rainbows, one invented, merge in a brilliant
splash of color as the Reverberation intensity
is heightened, then draw sharply and distinctly
apart when it is reduced. This indicator pro-
vides an at-a-glance check on whether the echo
effect Is being employed.

ALL SILICON TRANSISTOR CIRCUITRY: No
fewer than 11 advanced transistors and three
diodes are utilized in the super compact RA-
500. That kind of engineering keeps the unit
to a very manageable 11.4 lbs., and ensures
cool, stable performance.

By coupling amplifiers, speaker systems and the RA-500 as shown below, 2-channel program
sources can be made to achieve a quasi 4-channel stereo effect.
