Plays any 4-channel or 2-channel disk
Sansui's outstanding FR-3080 electronic
turntable has been specifically engineered to
deliver the finest musical performance in
conventional stereo (Echannel) as well as all
4channel (08. SO. CD-4) formats. The
Sansui-designed S-shaped tonearm is equipped
with a special Dual-Mag net cartridge employing
the smallest moving magnets possible to
manufacture. The cartridge (SV-40X) is capable
of a flat response over the entire audio range
without irregularities thanks to a separate mag net
and coil for each main channel. This is especially
important in 4channel reproduction for less
crosstalk and better channel separation.

Shibata stylus for CD-4 and longer wear

The cartridge includes a specially-shaped
Shibata stylus with increased lateral contact
with the record groove. It assures precise
tracing and significantly less wear. both on the
stylus itself and on records. The cartridge/
stylus combination in the FR-3080 extends
high frequency response well over the ultra-
high 50.000Hz mark for perfect handling of
the CD-4 carrier wave. Low-capacitance signal
cords (40pF/m) prevent high-frequency
attenuation.

Independent automatlc operatlon

One simple-to-use control lever does it all.
Set the record-size selector. then operate the
control to perform the automatic lead-in.
When the stylus touches the record. the
automatic mechanism is set free and the arm
and platter drive systems perform independently

as in any top-quality manual. When the record
is played out. a special Sansui galvo-magnet
detection mechanism triggers the independent
automatic tonearm return function. You can
override these automatic functions at any point.
or even set the control to repeat the cycle of
lead-in, play and return indefinitely, Thus the
Sansui FFt-3080 is a fully independent manual
turntable, or a fully automatic one. The choice
is up to you.

heavy platter

The FR'3080 features a 4-pole synchronous
motor with a tested and proven reliability to
deliver accuracy. Motor speed is independently
synchronized at all times regardless of
fluctuations in supply voltage. This high-torque
motor spins a well-balanced. high-inertia
aluminum die-cast platter (SOCm/lz") by
means of a proven belt»drive arrangement
employing a fine urepane (urethane/ neoprene)
belt of excellent physical and aging
characteristics. The resulting wow/flutter and
rumble levels are practically negligible.

StatlcaIIy-balanced tonearm wlth skatlng-Iorce
canceller

Minimized friction is the key to the smooth
performance of the statically-balanced tubular
tonearm in the FFl-SOBO. The elongated S shape
exhibits optimum lateral balance for true
tracking accuracy. The built-in skating-force
canceller eliminates harmful distortion and
stylus/ record wear caused by uneven pressure
on groove walls. It has a directreadout pressure
dial. The tonearm also features a universal-type
connector with gold-plated terminals.

Sella-walnut graln cablnet and Isolated motor
The cabinet of the FR-SOBO is as functional

as it is attractive. The use of solid and expertly

joined wooden parts suppresses howling,

and the unique motor suspension system

developed by Sansui (patent pending) serves

as a dramatic way to reduce all types of noise.
