INTRODUCTION

We at Rotel want to thank you for purchasing
our audio product

Rotel audio products are designed to use the
latest electronic technology, and they incorpo-

Before starting operation, please read this
lnstmction manual thoroughly and acquaint
yourself with the proper mode cl usth the unit
and all its connections.

We hope you will enjoy top»notch performance
for many years to come.

INSTALLATION

Be sure tovplace the unit in a level and flat place
where it is free trorn humidity, vibration, high
temperature and not exposed to direct sunlight.
Be careful not to place the unit in a highly
enclosed place such as near a Wall or on a
booksheliu A poor Ventilation Will cause unde-
sirable effects to the unit.

POWER SUPPLV CONNECTION

For power the unit requires the normal house
electrical current (ACI. You may simply plug
the unit into a wall outlet, or into your ampli-
fter's switched or unswitcheci AC outlet. If it is
plugged into a swrrched outlet, by leaving the
power switch at the unit on, you will be able to
maintain switching control for the RD~700
with your amplrtrer, If it is connected to
an unswitched outlet, like connectlng to a wall
outlet, you must use the FIB-700's own power
switch tor switching control.

CAUTION: Do not apply power without first
making sure the proper connections are com~
pleled. If you live In U.K. and your unitcomes
with Z-core cord without a plug, be sure to read
the exclusive cautlon lot U.K.

EXCLUSIVE NOTE FOR U.K.

If your unit comes with a 2-core cable

without a plug, make certain live and
neutral leads are connected to the proper
terminals. check that the terminals are
screwed down firmly and no loose strands
of wire are present.

IMPORTANT: The Wires in this mains lead
are coloured in accordance with the follow-

ing code:
BLUE: NEUTRAL
BROWN: LIVE

As the colours of the wires In the mains lead
of this apparatus may not correspond with
the coloured markings identifying the
terminals In your plug proceed as follows.
The wire which is coloured BLUE must be
connected to the terminal which is marked
with the letter N or coloured BLUE or
BLACK. The wire which is coloured |

BROWN must be connected to the terminal
which is marked with the letter L or colour-
ed BROWN or RED.

CONNECTION TO INTEGRATED
AMPLIFIER

Using the two accompanying pairs at FICA pin

cords, connect LINE IN and OUT terminals on

the back of deck with TAPE MONITOR termi-

nals OI the amplifier. Make sure LINE IN termi-

nals are connected to TAPE MONITOR OUT

terminals, and LINE OUT terminals to TAPE
no 700

MONITOR IN terminals Be sure to match L
(left) and R (right) terminals of the compo-
nents. To make correct connections, use cords
with white plugs for left channel connections,
and cords with red plugs tor riphlchannel con»
nections.

AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF SYSTEM

To protect the RDJOlJs motor and drive
mechanism against unnecessary wear, an
automatic shutoff device has been built into the
machine. When the supply hub stops lor any
reason the motor and drive mechanism will
automatically shut ofl alter a short period of
times The machine is also automatically shutoff
at the end of tape (PLAY, REC/PLAY, FAST
FORWARD and REWIND modes), disengaging
all locked buttons.

Note: Since this device wrll not affect the
electronic circuits ol the machine it Wlll still be
necessary to turn all the entire unit by pushing
the power switch.

CASSETTE TAPES

I To prevent possible trouble with the trans-
port mechanism, use of large size cassette tapes,
such as C-IZO, is not recommended,

o Handle cassette tapes with care. Keep them
away from heat, circulating dust, or a magnetic
field leg. on the TV set).

0 Each cassette tape has safety tabs on its
back edge to prevent accidental rerecording.

The tabs are provided for both sides of cassette
tape. You cannot record on the side whose tab
has been removed. The tab can be removed
with a screwdriver. etc. If you wish to record
on the side with no tab, place a piece of adhe-
sive tape, etc. over the opening where the tap
has been, then you can record,

- A loosened tape may cause troupla in play.

ing it into the deck. If it is slack, insert a pencil
or the like into either of cassette's hubs, and
rotate it carefully until the slack is taken up.
