MAINS SUPPLYAND SAFETY

Mains Supply: The mains operating voltage at all QUAD Elite
series units is shown on the rear panel, It this voltage does not
match the mains voltage in your area, consult your QUAD
deoleroboutconverting the unit.

The mains supply tuse on the rear panel is accessible when the
IEC mains plug has been removed, In the rare eventthat it has
broken, check torany obvious cause betore replacing the tuse
with one otthe correct rating and type. The tuse values are:

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO UK USERS

The appliance cord is terminated with o UKopproved mains plug
titted with a 5A tuse. It the tuse needs to be replaced, on ASTAor
BSI approved Est 362 tuse rated at 5Amust be used. ltyou need
to change the mains plug, remove the tuse and dispose of this

Connecting a Mains Plug

Thewires inthe mains lead are coloured in accordance with the
code: Blue: NEUTRAL Brown: LIVE: Green andYellaw: Earth.
As these colours may not correspond to the coloured markings
identifying theterminols in your plug, proceed as tollows:

INTRODUCTION

The Quad Elite power amplitiers otter exceptional accuracy combined with high power delivery. The
amplitiers can be used either stand-alone or as an integral component ot the Elite series, a matched
range othi-tideiity equipment which can be connected using the Quadlinksystem.

Please read this manual tuily betore you begin to install and use the equipment.

Product Registration and Warranty

QUAD equipment is guaranteed against any detect in material and workmanship for a period of one
yeartrom the date at purchase. Prooi oI purchase is required torWarranty claims.

Please complete and return the enclosed Warranty Registration tormr Within the warranty period QUAD
will undertake replacement ot detective parts tree at charge provided that the tailure was not caused by
misuse, accident or negligence. Your statutory rights within the territory in which you purchased the
equipment are not attected by this wa rranty.

QUAD carries out regular reviews and reserves the right to adjust the specifications and performance

TROUBLESHOOTING

It you suspect that your power amplifier is not operating properly, here are a few simple checks you
should carryout betore returning the unit to yourdealer.

Belore making any checks on system wiring, in particularAMPBUS cables, please ensurethe amplitieris
switched otl and the volume control set at minimum. It you are in any doubt as to the satisfactory

SYMPTOM

POSSIBLE CAUSE

No front panel indication when power
is applied.

Mains outlet taulty or not SWItched on

Mains plug tuse ormains cable taulty

The lEC plug has not been pushed in tirmlyenough
The rearpanel fuse has blown

The Elite front panel indicator glows
white but there is no sound from either
speaker

You have selected the wrong input channel on the amplifier.
Loudspeakercobles misconnected ortaulty

No source connected to your preamplifierorthe source has iinished playing.
AMPBUS connections have been poorly made.

The cable between the amplitier phone input and the preamplifier is iaulty (non
Quad Elite systems)

You are getting the same channel on
both speakers

You have selected the wrong input channel on one Elite mono amplifier

The channels are reversed

You have selected the wrong input channel on the ampliiier.
Loudspeakercables are misconnected.
RCA input cables misconnected (non Elite systems)

There is a large hum or unpleasant
noise from the loudspeakers
