SENSITIVE FM TUNER SECTION
The SX-424 is equipped with very modern solid state circuitry throughout its sensitive FM front end to give you excellent FM reception and tonal quality. An FET (field effect transistor) is used in the front end to improve sensitivity and image ratio while helping to prevent against annoying cross-modulation. An.d there is a three-gang variable capacitor employed to im- prove sensitivity (measured u1 2.31tY IHF) image rejection and spurious rejection. The unit is equipped with a three-stage lF section and time switching-type multiplex section, which ensures a wide frequency response as well as continuous sta- ble operation. Pioneer has also equipped the SX-424 with a large tuning signal meter, to achieve maximum channel separa- tion and tone quality, as well as an extra-wide linear dial scale, the latter ideal for achieving perfect reception and minimum noise and distortion.
ADVANCED AUDIO SECTION
For total performance throughout the audio section of the SX- 424, Pioneer has used quasi-complementary single-ended push-
pull circuitry, a long name for a lot of quality. The result of this kind of circuitry is wide frequency response QO-7O,ffiOHz +3dB), a wide power bandwidth (20-45,000H2), and a high signal to noise ratio. Maximum power output at 4 ohms is up to 50 watts (lHF), while continuous power output at 1KHz,
both channels driven is 12 watts *12 watts at B ohms. Both of these performance figures indicate that the SX-424 has more than enough power output to fill a very large music listening room with undistorted sound.
SUPREME VERSATILITY
The SX-424 is equipped with a loudness switch for natural sound
contour at low volume levels, speaker switches for operating up to two sets of speaker systems at three different positions (A, B, A+B), a headphone jack, plus individual bass and treble
controls. There are also connection terminals for a turntable,
tape deck, one auxiliary input (perhaps for a second, cassette tape deck) and one microphone. The design of the unit is
strikingly handsome, and you'll be proud to display it in any
room in your home.
