Please read these operating instructions thoroughly, so you will know
how to operate your model properly. After you have finished reading
the instructions, put them away in a safe place for future reference.
For the sake of convenience, these operating instructions are based
on the model HEM, and they can be used for the H8, HP, KU, KC, D
and DIG models.

The differences between the models are given below.

HEM model?

For Europe excluding U.K. (HEM' stamped on packing case): Power
line voltage is AC 220 volts.

HB model:

For UK. lHB' stamped on packing case): Power line voltage is AC
240 volts.

HP model: .

For Australia ('HP stamped on packing case): Power line voltage is
AC 240 volts.

KU and KC models:

For U.S.A. and Canada lKU' or KC stamped on pecking case):
Power line voltage is AC 120 volts.

D and DIG models:

For destinations excluding above (0 or D/G' stamped on packing
case): A 3-point (120 V/220 V/240 V) voltage selector switch is pro-
vided

NOTE:
Depending upon the model, the design of the power plug and the
power outlet differs.

The line voltage selector switch is located on the rear panel of the
unit. Please check that it is set properly before plugging the power
cord into an outlet. lfit is not set properly, change the setting of it
according to the LINE VOL TA GE SELECTION l D and D/ G models
only]. .

IMPORTANT NOTICE (For KU and KC models)

The serial number for this equipment is located on the rear panel.
Please write this serial number on your enclosed warranty card and
keep in a secure place. This is for your security.

LINE VOLTAGE SELECTION
(D and BIG models only)

Before your model is shipped from the factory, the switch is set to the

power requirements of the destination; nevertheless, you should

check that it is set properly before plugging the power cord into the

AC outlet.

1, Disconnect the power cord.

2. Provide yourself with a medium size screwdriver.

3. Insert the screwdriver into the groove on the voltage selector and
adjust to the voltage value of your area.

HEM (for Europe excluding U.K.), HB (for U.K.), HP (for
Australia), KU (for U.S.A.) and KC (for Canada) models are not
provided with a LINE VOLTAGE SELECTOR switch.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

READ INSTRUCTIONS 7 All the safety and
operating instructions should be read before the
appliance is operated.

RETAIN INSTRUCTIONS - The operating instmc-
tions should be retained for future Mutants.
NEED WARNING - All warnings on the appliance
and in the operating instructions should be adhered

FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS 7 All operating and use
instructions should be followed.

WATER AND MOIsTURE - The appliance should
not be used near water 7 for example, near a
bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, in a
wet basement, or near a swimming pool. etc.

LOCATION - The appliance should be installed in a
stable location.

WALL 0R CEILING MOUNTING - The appliance
should not be mounted to a wall or ceiling.

VENTILATION 7 The appliance should be situated so
that its location or position does not interfere with
its proper ventilation, For example, the appliance
should not be situated on a bad, sole. rug, or
similar surface that may block the vantilatiorl open-
ings; or, placed in a built-in inatallaoon, such as a
bookcase or cabinet that may impede the flow of
air through the ventilation openings.

HEAT - The appliance should as situated away irorn
heat sources such as radiators, hast registers,
stoves, or othar appliances (including amplifiersl
that Produce hear.

POWER SOURCES - The appliance should be con-
nactsd to a power supply only of the type describ-
ed in the operating instructions or as marked on the
appliance.

should be routed so that they are not likely to be
walked on Or pinched by item: placed upon or
against them, paying particular attention to cards
at pluga, convenience receptacles, and the point
where they exit from the lpplianos.

POLARIZATION - If your purchased product is pro-
vided with 3 polarized power plug, please read the
following instructions, This product is equipped
with a polariwd altamating current line plug (a plug
he one blade wider than the other). This plug
will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a
safety restore. If you are unublo to insert the plug
iully into the outlet, try naversing the plug. It the
plug should still tail to tit, contact your electrician
to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the
saiety purpose at the polarized plug.

CLEANING - The appliance should be cleaned only
with a polishing cloth or a soft dry cloth. Never
clean with furniture wax. benzine, insecticides or
other volatile liquids since they may cancdc the
cabinet.

POWER LINES - An outdoor antenna should be
located away Irom power lines.

NONUSE PERIODS - The power cord of the ap-
plianoo should he unplugged trorn the outlet when
latt unused tor a long period or time.

OBJECT AND LIQUID ENTRY - Care should be
taken so that obiactl do not fall and liquids are not
spilled into the enclosure through openings.

DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE - The appliance
should be serviced Ivy Pioneer authorized service
center or qualified sanrlca personnel when:

. The pdwcrsupply cord or the plug has been
damaged; or

' Chisels have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into
the appliance; or

I The appliance has been exposed to rain; or

- The appliance does not appearta operate normally
or exhibits a marked change in perionrlanca; or

r The appliance has been dropped; or the enclosure
damaged.

SERVICING - The user should not attempt to service
the appliance beyond that described in the
operating instructions. For all other servicing, con-

OUTDOOR ANTENNA GROUNDING - If an

outside antenna is Donnactsd to the antenna
terminal, be sure the antenna system is
grounded so as to provide some protection
against voltage surges and built up static
charges.
In the U.S.A. section 810 of the National Elec-
trical Code, ANSI/NEPA No. 70-1. Dro~

grounding or the mast and supporting strum
tum, grounding of thelead-in wire to an anten-
na discharge unit, size of grounding conduc-
tors, location or antenna-discharge unit, cons

The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance
with the tollcwing code:

Blue: Neutral

Brown: Live

As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this ap-
paratus may not correspond with the coloured marking
identifying the terminals in your plug proceed as
follows:

The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to
the terminal which is marked with the letter N or col-
cured black.

The wire which is coloured brawn must be connected to
the terminal which is marked with the letter L or col»
outed red.

Equipment sold in the UK is not supplied with a
power plug.
