Operating Instructions

STEREO CASSETTE TAPE DECK

T-730

D,HP,HB

For the sake of convenience, the illustrations and explana-

tions are based on the CT-730/ D.

The specifications of this model differ according to the

shipment destination.

0 For U.K. (HB stamped on packing case): Power line
voltage is 240 volts.

0 For Australia (HP stamped on packing case): Power
line voltage is 240 volts.

0 For general export model (D' stamped on packing
case): A 3»point (120V/220V/240V) voltage selector
switch is provided on the rear panel.

IM PORTANT

To prevent electric shock, do not remove cover. No user ser-
viceable parts inside, refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
Always disconnect all the equipment from the mains supply when
disconnecting the signal leads. The power cord should be con-
nected lest. make sure that the power switch is off.

Unplug the set from the wall socket when it is not to be used foran
extended period of time.

FOR USE IN UNITED KINGDOM
AND AUSTRALIA

Mains supply voltage is factory
adjusted at 240 V.

Equipment sold in the U.K. is-not supplied with a power
plug.
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accordance with the
following cord:

Blue: Neutral

Brown: Live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this apparatus may
not correspond with the coloured marking identifying the ter-
minals in your plug proceed as follows.
The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal
which is marked with the letter N or coloured black.
The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the ter»
minal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red.

LINE-VOLTAGE VARIATIONS

For General Export Model (D)

1. Unscrew the fuse cap with a Phillips screwdriver, then
take out the fuse and plug.

2. Reinstall the plug with its cutaway section exposing the
correct voltage indication as shown in the illustration
below.

3. Insert the fuse in the fuse cap, then fit the cap to the
plug and tighten.

For U.K. and Australia Model (HB and HP)

1. Loosen the screw on the VOLTAGE SELECTOR plug
with Phillips screwdriver, then take out the plug.

2. Reinstall the plug with its cutaway section exposing the
correct voltage indication as illustrated below.

3. Tighten the mounting screw.

Checking the Accessories
The following accessories are contained in the packing carton.

Check that they are all accounted for before using the deck.

0 POWER SWITCH

When this switch is depresed, the power is turned on and the level
indicator -°«" lights. Depress the switch again to release it when
turning off the power to the deck.

0 The muting circuit is actuated after the POWER switch has
been set to ON and there will be no operation for about 4
seconds. This is not a failure or malfunction.

0 When the POWER switch is set to the OFF position while the
tape deck is operating, the deck's operation is released and the
stop mode is established.

@TIMER START SWITCH

This switch is used when an optional audio timer is employed for

unattended recording or wake-up playback operations. Keep this

switch at the OFF position when the timer is not being used.

REC : Set to this position to set the tape deck automatically
to the recording mode at the time preset on the audio
timer and to start the recording of programs unattended,
for instance.

OFF : For when the timer is not being used.

PLAY : Set to this position to set the tape deck automatically to
the playback mode at the time preset on the audio timer
and to start the playback. The tape playback function can
be used to wake-up in the morning instead of an alarm
clock.

For detailed instructions on the use of this function. refer to
RECORDING AND PLAYBACK USING THE AUDIO TIMER on
page 10.

GEJECT BUTTON

Depress this button to open the cassette holder. To close the
cassette holeer, push the top back until it lacks.
0 Do not press this button when the tape is in motion.

GCASSETTE DOOR
eTAPE COUNTER

This counter shows the position of the tape using a threeoigit
meter.

6 COUNTER RESET BUTTON

Depress this button to reset the tape counter display to "000".
