FEATU R ES
DOLBY*SYSTEM

This top-duality deck has been specifically designed to incorporate Dolby
System recording and playback facilities. The Dolby System is effective in
reducing cassette tape hiss" (mid - and high-frequency noise) during
high-fidelity playback without in any way reducing sound quality.

SOLID FERRITE HEADS . . . LONG SERVICE LIFE,

TOP PERFORMANCE

Solid ferrite heads have such outstandingly good resistance to wear that, at
the low tape speed' used in cassette decks, they have virtually unlimited
service life, They have the further advantage over permalloy heads that
magnetic losses are reduced, and high frequency characteristics improved.
Add to this the fact that the fear of poor head contact, the adherence of
dirt, and "drop-outs," have all been removed, and that the heads have low
residual magnetism, so that noise is further reduced, and you get some idea
of the advance that these heads represent. O

TAPE SELECTION FOR ALL TAPES . . . INCLUDING
CHROMIUM DIOXIDE

You can use the latest chromium dioxide cassette tapes, with their great
improvement over conventional tapes in both frequency characteristics and
dynamic range, because the independent bias and equalizer circuits required
are available through the tape selector switch. When using chrome tapes the
playback equalizer operates at 70,us, which gives an excellent SN (signal-to-
noise) ratio. The other position of the tape selector enables conventional
tapes to be used,

TAPE RUNNING PILOT

The tape running pilotprovides a unique indication of tape transport. During
recording, the pattern produced turns to red, showing at a glance that the
deck is in the record" mode.

ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED DC MOTOR

In order to achieve stable tape transport under conditions of varying source
voltage and tape load, a DC motor controlled electronically by transistors
and diode is used.

WEALTH OF EASY-TO-OPERATE AUXILIARY DEVICES
Skip button: Holding down this button in the playback mode drives _V
tape at increased speed while retaining the output function. It is ~
convenient for quickly locating a particular item on the tape, while skip
rapidly over unwanted items.

Peak Indicator: Constant observation of the input recording level meters
for over-loading can be troublesome. In the CT-SlSi a light emitting diode
has been used to give a visual alarm during peak input passages faster than is
possible with the meters.

Input level limiter: With the limiter switch set to ON, the limitercircuit
acts to limit input to suitable levels. It operates automatically, assuring
distortion-free recording.

Memory rewind switch: If during playback or recording the tape
counter is set to zero at the start, subsequent rewinding will be stopped at
the indicated location.

The regular auto-stop function is also included, of course.
