gestions carelully,

special care to lollow the warnings indicated on the unit
itsell as well as in the operating Instructions.

Safety

1. Power Source-The unit should be connected to
power supply only oi the type described in the oper-
ating instructions or as marked on the unit Use only
the AC adaptor or car adaptor described in the opers
ating instructions when recharging.

2. Polarization-ll the unit is equipped With a polarized
AC power plug (a plug havmg one blade Wldel than
the other). that plug will lit into the AC outlet only one
way. This is a salety leature. It you are unable to in-
sen the plug lully into the outlet. try reversing the
plug. ll the plug should still tail to lit. contact your
electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not de-
leat the salety purpose oI the polarized plug.

3. Care at AC adaptor-Take care that the cord ol the
AC adaptor should be routed so that they are not
likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed
upon or against them. Never take hold ol the AC
adapter it your hand is wet. and always grasp the
plug body when connecting or disconnecting it

4. Nonuse Periods-When not in use. be sure to dis-
connect the AC adapter lrom the AC power outlet.

5. Batteries-ll the set is not used tor a long period at
time or is used only lrom an AC power source, re-
move all the batteries to prevent potential damage
due to possible battery leakage. Do not Mix batteries
(old and new) or dillerent types at batteries.

1 Pull the lock release and open the
lid

2 Open the battery lid, and insert the
rechargeable batteries

3 Open the rubber cap and connect
the AC adaptor

Recharging starts and the G" charging indicator
flashes on the display
When the rechargeable batteries are fully re-
charged the charging indicator disappears

4 When recharging IS complete, dis-
connect the AC adaptor from the
unit's DC IN lack and the household
AC outlet

«Rechargeable batteries have a seNice life of apFIOXI-
mately 300 charge-discharge cycles The batteries
have reached the end of their operational life if they
last for a noticeably shorter time after recharging, or if
they cannot be recharged at all Replace the batteries

ORecharging may only be pertormed when the unit is
off

oThe AC adaptor and rechargeable batteries may be
come warm while recharging is in progress This is not
a malfunction

oLeavtng the AC adaptor connected can cause the bat-
teries to go flat After recharging the batteries and dis-
connecting the AC adaptor from the household AC
outlet. ensure you disconnect the adaptor from the
unit's [DC IN 4 5 V 6-6-9 ] terminal

This indicator flashes when the batteries are almost out
of power Power is cut off a short while later Recharge
the rechargeable batteries or replace the dry cell batter-
ies With new ones

oHoW long the unit continues to operate after the bat-
tery indicator starts flashing depends on the type of
batteries and on whether you are using the unit to play
CDs or the radio

OThe battery indicator may not flash it rechargeable
batteries other than those designated by Panasonic
are used

Using the car adaptor (not included)

Be sure to obtain the car adaptor (SH-CD09). available
as an optional accessory

CAUTION:

Use only car adaptor, Model SH CDCS manufac
tured by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd

The car adaptor can be used to recharge the unit's bat-
teries while in the car

If the unlt malfunctlons or freezes durlng use.
dlsconnect the power source (the AC adaptor
or batterles)

Reconnect the power source and continue
operatlon

they are not in use

HOLD mode

This function enables the unit to ignore accidental but-
ton presses (The disc lid can still be opened and
closed)

HOLD tunctlon prevents the followmg

oThe unit is powered on acCIdentally when not in use
causing the batteries to run down

0A button is accidentally pressed during play interrupt<
ing the operation

To use the HOLD function
Set [HOLD] to the HOLD position

When the unit is off
