2 Core Technologies Driving Onkyos 2011 A/V Receiver Line-Up The Leading Edge in Power and High-Def A/V Processing Onkyos latest A/V receiver line-up expands the possibilities of high-definition media. As always with Onkyo, youre guaranteed a compelling mix of amplification power, precise processing, and intelligent features. Dedicated to High-Quality Construction The TX-NR809 and higher models feature an isolated power amplifier block and pre-amplifier, and a copper bus plate for perfect grounding. The TX-NR5009 and PR-SC5509 feature separate aluminum panels for the sides and front to reduce unwanted vibrations caused by internal resonance. The flagship TX-NR5009 and PR-SC5509 forge fur ther ahead with gold-plated A/V inputs and outputs (including HDMI), and customized, gold-plated speaker posts. Harnessing Power for Audio Performance Onkyo knows the value of clean power. The high-end TX-NR5009 and PR-SC5509 both employ a massive, highly efficient toroidal transformer, with the former featuring capacitors that operate at up to 22,000 microfarads. Fur thermore, the TX-NR5009, PR-SC5509, and TX-NR3009 featureseparate transformers for audio and video processing. VLSC -„¢ (Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry) Onkyos VLSC employs a unique digital-to-analog conversion circuit to mitigate the effects of signal noise. Data is conver ted between discrete sampling points, which are then joined with analog vectors in real-time to produce a smooth output wave form. The result-a noiseless, smooth analog signal based on the digital source. WRAT (Wide Range Amplifier Technology) Onkyos proprietar y WRAT comprises three key elements: (1) A low negative- feedback design for cleaner audio across the frequency range; (2) Closed ground- loop circuits to cancel individual circuit noise and keep the ground potential free of distor tion; and (3) A high instantaneous-current capability to handle speaker reflex energy and impedance fluctuations. Playback of Different A/V Sources Throughout the Home Zone 2/3 and Powered Zone 2/3 bring multi-room audio enter tainment to your home through dedicated line outs, pre outs, and speaker connections. And with the TX-NR5009, TX-NR3009, and PR-SC5509, you have the added advantage of video in a second room. Convenient Overlaid Graphical On-Screen Display via HDMI Changing the settings on an Onkyo A/V receiver is now more seamless than ever. Graphical set-up menus appear overlaid on the video image youre watching, so you can adjust the settings immediately, without having to switch back and for th from a blank screen background. Universal Port for Simple Connection of Onkyo Peripherals A proprietar y Universal Por t located on the rear side of almost all new Onkyo A/V receivers lets you connect the optional UP-A1 Dock for iPod/iPhone or UP-DT1 DAB+ Radio Tuner. Net result: more connectivity, less cable clutter. Wireless LAN Ready with USB Adapter The optional UWF-1 Wireless LAN Adapter helps you integrate your music life and remove unwanted cables. Connected to the USB por t of a compatible receiver, the UWF-1 brings audio from a wireless router into your main enter tainment system. (See also page 13) High-Performance Burr-Brown DACs for All Channels The high-end TX-NR5009 and PR-SC5509 employ 192 kHz/32-bit Burr-Brown DACs to achieve the best possible dynamic performance and improved tolerance to clock jitter. The other models in our latest A/V receiver line-up use high-performance 24-bit Burr-Brown DACs. Three-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry This core Onkyo technology brings greater efficiency to the TX-NR609 and higher models. It incorporates a low-NFB design to remove distor tion and enhance the natural character of audio signals. Sensitive to oscillations, this circuitr y requires advanced control technology in order to be incorporated into the amplifier. Meeting THX Benchmarks for Superior Performance and Reliability To achieve prestigious THX ® Ultra2 Plus -„¢ or THX ® Select2 Plus -„¢ cer tification, Onkyos mid-range and high-end A/V receivers are rigorously tested for sound quality, usability, and interoperability. DTS Neo:X -„¢ and Audyssey DSX -„¢ for Extra Surround Channels DTS Neo:X and Audyssey DSX deliver up to 9.1 channels of immersive surround sound through compatible Onkyo receivers. A standard 7.1-channel set-up can be augmented with either two front-wide channels for a more expansive soundstage, or two front-height channels for a new ver tical dimension and increased ambience. Dolby ® Pro Logic ® IIz for a More Enveloping Sound Field Pro Logic IIz creates a surround-sound experience from any movie or music source-even a stereo one. Pro Logic IIz also enables you to incorporate two front height speakers that carr y ambient audio effects for games and movies. ISF Video Calibration for Accurate Video Reproduction The TX-NR809 and higher models are equipped with industr y-leading ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) video calibration to dramatically improve your home cinema. For each independent video input source, you can make adjustments to the brightness, hue, contrast, saturation, and gamma levels. Four Game Modes for More Thrilling Action Onkyos four gaming audio modes create an in-game experience with more realism and impact. You can select from Rock, Spor ts, Action, or RPG (Role Playing Game) modes to match your gaming content. Tailor Multichannel Audio to Your Home with Audyssey and Dolby Technologies Onkyo A/V receivers use Audysseys MultEQ ® XT32, MultEQ ® XT, or 2EQ ® to counter distor tion in dedicated home cinemas and deliver a natural, well-balanced sound. Audysseys Dynamic EQ ® and Dynamic Volume ®, meanwhile, work to optimize frequency response and dynamic range at all volume levels. Dolby ® Volume performs a similar role, ensuring soundtrack dynamics are consistent at different volume levels. Advanced Video Processing by HQV ® Vida and 4K Upscaling by Qdeo -„¢ Technology Using multi-cadence tracking, 12-bit color processing, and four-field motion- adaptive de-interlacing, the HQV Vida VHD1900 processor brings the ver y best out of SD and HD video sources alike. Meanwhile, Qdeo technology from Mar vell offers de-interlacing and upscaling of all video sources to stunning 4K resolution (3840 x 2160). It also erases video noise and ar tifacts such as jaggies and feathering. PC Audio and Internet Radio via Network Function Onkyos A/V network receivers link directly to the internet or to your PC or media ser ver via a local network. This brings a huge array of file types and internet radio channels from Last.fm* and vTuner-plus on-demand music streaming from Napster*, Spotify*, and AUPEO!-into the high-fidelity domain of your living room. Onkyo network receivers are compatible with the Windows ® 7 platform, which includes the DLNA 1.5-specified Play To media-streaming feature. *Availability of ser vices depends on region.
