Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the audio equipment. 1 Read instructions - All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the product is operated. 2 Retain instructions - The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference. 3 Heed Warnings - All warnings on the product and in the operating instructions should be adhered to. 4 Follow Instructions - All operating and use instructions should be followed. 5 Cleaning - Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning. 6 Attachments - Do not use attachments not recommended by the product manufacturer as they may cause hazards. 7 Water and Moisture - Do not use this product near water-for example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub; in a wet basement; or near a swimming pool\ ; and the like. 8 Accessories - Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table. The product may fall, causing serious injury to a child or adult, and serious \ damage to the product. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended by the manufacturer, or sold with the product. Any mounting of the product should follow the manufacturers instructions, and should use a mounting accessory recommended by the manufacturer. 9 A product and cart combination should be moved with care. Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the product and cart combination to overturn. 10 Ventilation - Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided for ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the product and to protect it from overheating, and these openings must not be blocked or covered. The openings should never be blocked by placing the product on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface. This product should not be placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase\ or rack unless proper ventilation is provided or the manufacturers instructions have been adhered to. 11 Power Sources - This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your product dealer or local power company.  Main Power Disconnect; When the power switch is in the Off position, the integrated amplifier is not completely disconnected from the main power. The primary method of isolating the integrated amplifier from the mains supply is to disconnect the mains plug. Ensure that the mains plug remains accessible at all times. When installing the product, ensure that the plug is easily accessible. This plug will fi\ t into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug. 13 Power-Cord Protection - Power-supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying partic\ ular attention to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the product. 14 Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the product, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Article 810 of the National Electrical Code\ , ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead- in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode. NOTE TO CATV SYSTEM INSTALLER This reminder is provided to call the CATV system installers attention to Section 820-40 of the NEC which provides guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular, specifies that the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the building, as close to the po\ int of cable entry as practical. 15 Lightning - For added protection for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the product due to lightning and power-line surges. 16 Power Lines - An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of ove\ rhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal. 17 Overloading - Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or integral convenience receptacles as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock. 18 Object and Liquid Entry - Never push objects of any kind into this product through openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product. 19 Damage Requiring Service - Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions: a)When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged. b) If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the product. c) If the product has been exposed to rain or water. d) If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions.\ Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions as an improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to its normal operation. e) If the product has been dropped or damaged in any way. f) when the product exhibits a distinct change in performance-this indicates a need fo\ r service. 20 Replacement Parts - When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician has used replacement parts specified by the manufacturer or have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized \ substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards. 21 Safety Check - Upon completion of any service or repairs to this product, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to determine that the product is in proper operating condition. 22 Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The product should be mounted to a wall or ceiling only as recommended by the manufacturer. For example, use the Mono mode to check the speakers phase. Setting the mod\ e to Left or Right allows one to easily balance left signal inputs with right signal \ inputs. Press the mode button to toggle through the four listening modes. A press longer than one second will advance the mode selection to the next state as follows;\ STEREO, MONO, LEFT, RIGHT, and then return to the STEREO listening mode. Release the mode button to stop the sequence. 7. balance: Adjust LEFT and RIGHT balance simultaneously using the volume (set up)\ control. Both LEFT and RIGHT levels are adjustable between +/- 9.5 dB To adjust balance; press the balance button once and then within 5 seconds, rotate the volume (set up) control to adjust the either the LEFT or RIGHT balance level. After about 5 seconds, the balance menu will switch off saving the balance settings in memory. 8. tone: Press the tonebutton to activate or deactivate the tone controls. A press longer than one second will toggle the tone option between TONE ACTIVE and TONE\ DEFEAT. To bypass bass, treble, and spectral tilt controls completely, select TONE DEFEAT (direct bypass of all analogue filters). To enable TONE ACTIVE, toggle the tonebutton to display TONE ACTIVE and then release the tonebutton. Then within a few moments the tone controls will display. Then press the tonebutton to toggle through bass, treble and tilt functions. Selecting TONE ACTIVE allows one to adjust the bass, treble, and spectral tilt settings of the M3 via the volume (set up) control. Bass and treble levels are adjustable between +/- 5dB. The spectral tilt adjustment allows for simultaneous +/-3dB bass a\ nd treble offsets. When adjusting bass and treble levels, the spectral tilt value will remain 0dB. When adjusting the spectral tilt, the bass and treble values will follow the spectral tilt adjustment simultaneously. See figures 6 & 7, examples of bass, treble, and tilt frequency response diagrams. 9. biamp (crossover frequency selection): If one uses smaller shelf-type speakers, in conjunction with a powered subwoofer (refer to PRE OUT 2section under Rear Panel Connections and Controls), the M3 allows the configuration of the speaker crossover frequency to match the bass response of the speakers. Press the biampbutton to toggle through the filter sequence. A press longer than one second will advance the crossover frequency selection as follows; BIAMP CROSSOVER FULL RANGE, HIGH PASS 40 Hz, HIGH PASS 60 Hz, HIGH PASS 80 Hz, HIGH PASS 100 Hz, and then return to FULL RANGE. Release the biampbutton to stop the sequence. See figure 8 examples of the crossover frequency response diagram. For connection of a subwoofer see Rear Panel Connectio\ ns and Controls; PRE OUT 2. 10. speakers: The M3 has two sets of speaker terminals A and B. One may switch on or \ off both sets together or separately. Press the speakersbutton to toggle through the four speaker selections. A press longer than one second will advance the speaker selection as follows; SPEAKERS A, SPEAKERS B, SPEAKERS A+B, SPEAKERS Off, and then return to the SPEAKER A selection. Release the speakers button to stop the sequence. \ Refer to biamp for setting up the crossover frequency above. 11. volume (set up): Use the volume (set up) control for; volume control, balance adjustment, tone controls, and renaming inputs. The default turn-on volume level setting for the volume is -20 dB. The turn on volume level will always revert to -20 dB if the volume level is set to greater than -19 dB before switching to standby. Que vous déménagiez ou que vous deviez transporter votre amplificateur intégré, cest de loin lemballage le plus sûr vous permettant de le faire. Nous avons vu par ailleurs trop déléments parfaits endommagés lors du transport par manque \ dun conteneur demballage adéquat, donc, veuillez conserver cet emballage ! MISE EN ROUTE RAPIDE : 1. Brancher les haut-parleurs sur les prises pour haut-parleurs à la\ rrière et les sources sur les prises dentrée correspondantes à larrière. 2. Brancher le cordon dalimentation secteur sur la prise CEI à larrière du M3. 3. Mettre sur Marche [ON] le bouton [POWER] situé sur le panneau arrière pour mettre le M3 en veille. 4. Appuyer sur linterrupteur de la face parlante pour mettre le M3 sous tension. 5. Appuyer sur le bouton [listen] le nombre de fois nécessaire pour sélectionner la source. UN MOT SUR LINSTALLATION Cet appareil peut être posé sur nimporte quelle surface suffisamment robuste pour supporter son poids. Eviter les rayons directs du soleil et les sources de chaleur et dhumidité. Etant donné que les transformateurs de puissance du M3 engendrent un champ magnétique à ronflement considérable, nous recommandons de ne jamais mettre de tourne-disque (surtout un à cartouche de lecteur à bobine mobile) ou de tél\ éviseur à côté de lamplificateur ou juste au-dessus. A cause des fentes de dissipation de chaleur situées sur les côté\ s gauche et droit, ce nest pas facile de soulever le M3 de cette manière. Il est plus facile de placer les mains en dessous des faces parlante et arrière. La majeure partie du poids du M3 se trouve devant, auprès de la face parlante. ATTENTION : le poids de lamplificateur doit toujours reposer sur les pieds. Ne jamais poser lamplificateur sur sa face arrière avec la face parlante vers le haut. Ceci risque dendommager les connecteurs dentrée et de sortie. Lamplificateur engendre une certaine chaleur, même lorsquil fonctionne à vide. De ce fait, il doit être ventilé à lintérieur et à lextérieur. Assurer une bonne ventilation. Ne pas le placer dans un endroit confiné (sur une étagère de bibliothèque ou un casier) où le flux dair à travers les fentes de ventilation risque dêtre entravé. Toujours veiller à ne pas obstruer les fentes de ventilation du couver\ cle supérieur avec des papiers, des objets quelconques ou des vêtements. En outre, si lamplificateur doit être posé par terre sur la moquette, il sera nécessaire de mettre une planche au-dessous afin que lappareil ne senfonce pas dans la moquette et que les fentes de ventilatio\ n du dessous ne se bloquent. Bei abruptem Abbremsen, zu hohem Kraftaufwand und unebenem Boden muss mit einem Kippen de\ r Kombination aus Gerät und Wagen gerechnet werden. 10 Ventilation - Die Öffnungen im Gehäuse sind für die Belüftung vorgesehen, wodurch der zuverlässige Betrieb des Geräts sichergestellt und eine Überhitzung vermieden w\ ird. Diese Öffnungen dürfen nicht abgedeckt oder verstellt werden. Die Ventilationsöffnungen dürfen niemals abgedeckt werden, indem das Gerät auf ein Bett, ein Sofa, einen Teppich oder eine ähnliche Unterlage gestellt wird. Dieses Gerät darf nicht in Regale usw. eingebaut werden, ohne dass eine ausreichende Belüftung sichergestellt oder die entsprechenden Anweisungen des Herstellers eingehalten werden. 11 Stromversorgung - Dieses Gerät darf nur an einer Stromversorgung gemäß Beschriftung auf dem Typenschild betrieben werden. Die korrekte Netzspannung und Netzfrequenz erfahren Sie bei Bedarf von Ihrem Händler oder Ihrem Elektrizitätswerk.  Haupttrennschalter - Wenn sich der Netzschalter in der Position OFF befindet, ist der integrie\ rte Verstärker immer noch mit dem Wechselstromnetz verbunden. Bei Bedarf muss der integrierte Verstärker durch Abziehen des Netzsteckers vom Wechselstromnetz getrennt werden. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Netzstecker stets zugänglich ist. Stellen Sie bei der Inst\ allation des Geräts sicher, dass der Netzstecker zugänglich ist. Diesen Ausg\ ang können Sie mit dem Eingang von Aufnahmegeräten wie z.B. einem Tonbandgerät oder einem Digitalrecorder mit eingangsseitigem Analog-/Digital-Wandler verbinden. An diesen Ausgang können auch Audiogeräte wie integrierte Verstärker für die Beschallung mehrerer Hörzonen angeschlossen werden. In diesem Fall können Sie diesen Ausgang in Verbindung mit der Fernbedienung ZR3 und dem Eingang IR INverwenden (weitere Informationen hierzu finden Sie im nachstehenden Abschnitt IR IN). 9. SPEAKERS A: An diese Lautsprecherausgänge können Sie Lautsprecherboxen mit einer Impedanz von mindestens 4 Ohm anschließen. Verbinden Sie den rechten Lautsprecher mit den Anschlüssen R+ und R-. Stellen Sie hierbei sicher, dass der Anschluss R+ mit der Anschlussklemme + des Lautsprechers und der Anschluss R- mit der Anschlussklemme - des Lautsprechers verbunden ist. Verbinden Sie die Anschlüsse L+ und L- auf die gleiche\ Weise mit dem linken Lautsprecher. Bei gleichzeitiger Verwendung der Lautsprecheranschlüsse SPEAKERS A und SPEAKERS B dürfen nur Lautsprecherboxen mit einer Impedanz von mindestens 8 Ohm verwendet werden. 10. SPEAKERS B: An diese Lautsprecherausgänge können Sie Lautsprecherboxen mit einer Impedanz von mindestens 4 Ohm anschließen. Verbinden Sie den rechten Lautsprecher mit den Anschlüssen R+ und R-. Stellen Sie hierbei sicher, dass der Anschluss R+ mit der Anschlussklemme + des Lautsprechers und der Anschluss R- mit der Anschlussklemme - des Lautsprechers verbunden ist. Verbinden Sie die Anschlüsse L+ und L- auf die gleiche\ Weise mit dem linken Lautsprecher. Bei gleichzeitiger Verwendung der Lautsprecheranschlüsse SPEAKERS A und SPEAKERS B dürfen nur Lautsprecherboxen mit einer Impedanz von mindestens 8 O verwendet werden. ANMERKUNGEN: Bei gleichzeitiger Verwendung der Lautsprecheranschlüsse SPEAKERS Aund SPEAKERS B dürfen nur Lautsprecherboxen mit einer Impedanz von mindestens 8 Ohm verwendet werden. Verwenden Sie stets Lautsprecherkabel (Litzendrähte) mit einem Draht\ querschnitt von mindestens 2 Quadratmillimetern. Die Anschlussklemmen mit hoher Strombelastbarkeit können als Schraubk\ lemmen zum Anschließen von Kabeln mit Kabelschuhen, von Kabeln mit Anschlussstif\ ten oder von Kabeln mit offenen Enden verwendet werden. KABELSCHUHE (Abbildung 3) Kabelschuhe müssen unter die Unterlegscheibe des Schraubanschlusses g\ eschoben werden. Anschließend muss die Schraube festgezogen werden. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Kabelschuh fest sitzt und weder die Rückwand noch einen anderen Steckverbinder berühren kann, da dies eine Beschädigung des Verstärkers zur Folge haben kann. FREIE DRAHTENDEN UND ANSCHLUSSSTIFTE (Abbildung 3) Freie Drahtenden und Anschlussstifte müssen in die Öffnung der Anschlussklemme geschoben werden. Schrauben Sie die Plastikhülse vom Lautsprecheranschluss ab, bis die Öffnung im Schraubanschluss zugänglich ist. Schieben Sie den Anschlussstift oder\ das freie Drahtende in die Öffnung und sichern Sie das Kabel durch Festziehen der Plastikhülse. Stellen Sie sicher, dass blanke Metallteile der Lautsprecherkabel weder die Rückwand noch einen anderen Steckverbinder berühren können. Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Lautsprecherkabel nur auf eine Länge von maximal 1 Zentimeter abisoliert ist bzw. der Metallteil des Anschlussstifts nicht länger als 1 Zentimeter ist. Stellen Sie ferner sicher, dass von der Drahtlitze keine einzelnen Drähte abstehen. 11. IR IN und IR OUT 2: Verwenden Sie diese 3,5-mm-Miniaturbuchsen, um Befehle von anderen Geräten mit ähnlichen Infrarot-Steckverbindern weiterzuleiten. ANMERKUNG: Der Ausgang IR OUTPUT 1 ist mit dem Infrarotsensor auf der Frontplatte des M3 festverdrahtet.
