The MOON P 5.3 Preamplifier follows in the footsteps of the legendary, award winning P-5. Representing a genuine leap forward from earlier MOON series preamplifiers, the P 5.3 employs numerous advancements from our Evolutions series. Call it trickle-down technology if you will - the audio circuitry is based on the MOON P-7 preamplifier. The result is incredible sonic transparency, a dead-quiet black background and genuine ease-of-use. Offering balanced circuitry, 5 line-level inputs and an optional internal phono section with adjustable gain, resistance and capacitance, the MOON P 5.3 pushes the envelope to new heights with respect to the price-to-performance ratio. With features such as a large and easily legible display, an IR input for external control, a 12 Volt trigger output, a user configurable Home-Theater input and a lux- urious industrial-grade build quality, the MOON P 5.3 will provide for many years of listening pleasure and unprecedented reliability as the control center for your music system. The MOON W 5.3 Power Amplifier boasts 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 300 watts into 4 ohms of continuous power output. It can easily be configured for mono operation, yielding a robust 500 watts of power. This heir apparent to the world-reknowned W-5.3 encompasses our award winning Advanced Rennaisance amplifier technology. The result is a warm, grain-free sound with tight, authoritative bass, ultra-fast transients and incredible timbral accuracy. The MOON W 5.3 will sound effortless at any output level. A two-channel or multi-channel system built around the MOON W 5.3 will provide for many years of high-performance operation and unprecedented reliabilty. Housed inrugged yet elegant chassis, with a 12 Volt trigger input and balanced audio circuitry, the W 5.3 represents the most affordable entry into the universe of MOON high-performance amplification. Simaudio Ltd. has been designing and manufacturing innovative, leading-edge audio and video products since 1980. MOON products have been globally recognized for their world-class performance, garnering numerous accolades for this outstanding achievement. Our products are engineered and built in Canada, utilizing advanced, efficient, "green" assembly techniques with strict quality control. Furthermore, our manufacturing processes are part of our philosophy, whereas the high quality and long-life of MOON products are the best way to preserve our environment, avoiding premature obsolesence. MOON products meet or exceed all international requirements for safety, performance and durability. At Simaudio, great music matters. However, great music for a lifetime matters most. P 5.3 Significant Design Features W 5.3 Significant Design Features An oversized power supply. Pure copper circuit board tracings with extremely low impedance characteris tics. M-eVOL volume control circuit based on a resistive array configuration, resulting in no sonic degradation of the audio signal regardless of the selected volume setting.Four-layer circuit board tracings; The advantages include better ground and power supply circuit layouts resulting in a much shorter signal path and dramatically improved signal-to-noise ratio. Extremely rigid chassis construction to minimize the effects of external vibrations. Power supply voltage regulation includes Evolution series i 2DCf (Independant Inductive DC Filtering) - 14 stages in all. A "zero global feedback" design resulting in real-time amplification, a more accurate musical reproduction with respect to tonality, virtually non-existent intermodulation distortion and the elimination of common phase errors resulting from feedback. Extremely rigid chassis construction to minimize the effects of external vibrations. -A very short signal path for a faster transient response. - A high damping factor which yields superior musical dynamics, improved signal speed and refined timbre accuracy. - Stable to any known speaker impedance. - "Class" A output to 5 watts for greater efficiency. . Technical information The frequency response curve in top figure is virtually flat throughout, and beyond, the entire audible range as a result of the DC-Coupled circuit employed on our MOON amplifiers. Conversely, the frequency response curve of a traditional AC-Coupled amplifier design is far from perfect, as seen in the bottom figure; both low and high frequencies in the audible range are noticeably diminished. Deeper, more accurate and articulate bass ... You will clearly distinguish between a double-bass and an electric bass in a heart-beat. The three response curves in figure 3 demonstrate (i) a theoretically perfect transform er regulation factor of 0% (green), whereby voltage remains stable regardless of the current draw, (ii) a remarkably low regulation factor of 3% (black), found in MOON W 5.3 amplifier, where the voltage drops very slightly as the current draw increases and (iii) a typical regulation factor of 10% (red), whereby, as the current draw increas- es, power supply voltage drops significantly, as found in most competing amplifier designs. Powerful musical passages are faithfully and thoroughly reproduced in an effortless manner. Without the blocking capacitors at the amplifiers input, sound quality is improved as the phase-shift caused by these capacitors is eliminated. Frequency response in the bass region approaches 0Hz. As well, by removing all capacitors from the direct audio signal path, ultimate soundstage focus is attained with less smear or blur. Apower supply transformer with a tight regulation (low) factor assures that power into more difficult speaker loads will be delivered closer to the theoretical ideal. These transformers are significantly more expensive, but are the only way to assure stability and consequently excellent sound quality under all conditions. Precision matched Bipolar output devices which offer both high-current and superb linearity throughout the entire audio frequency spectrum (8 per channel). A 12 Volt trigger for remote operations. Pure copper circuit board tracings with extremely low impedance characteristics. A custom, oversized proprietary toroidal transformer design with lower magnetic, electrical and thermal loss, yielding an Improved power transfer and lower regulation factor, resulting in increased current speed and better dynamics. - IR input for external control (all discrete codes) and 12 Volt trigger output. - An exceptionally short signal path measuring only 10 inches in length from the rear panel's input to output connectors, yielding a much faster transient response. - Open loop zero feedback circuit topology using absolutely no capacitors anywhere in the audio signal path. - One single-ended audio input, of your choice, which functions as a pass-through, bypass- ing the gain stage to accommodate a compo- nent such as a home-theater processor, whose own volume control is used instead.
