THE McINTOSH SECRET FOR SUCCESS Examine McIntosh Laboratory up close and you'll find a simple strategy implemented in 1949 and reflected in every new product that bears our name: unparalleled audio artistry nurtured from con- cept to completion in the quintessentially American town of Binghamton, New York. Founder Frank McIntosh raised the bar for excellence straight out of the starting gate, and the com- pany hasn't faltered since. Competitors tried for 20 years before they could match the performance of our very first amplifier. McIntosh, meanwhile, continued to redefine what it means to be the best- a difficult but rewarding journey that has inspired many talented people to dedicate their entire careers to that mission. SCIENCE, STYLE AND CRAFT The innovative application of cutting-edge technologies are the driving force that keeps our engineers working late into the night. Coupled with our signature style and manufacturing standards that ensure components perform for decades, their audio and home theater breakthroughs result in true invest- ment pieces. Discriminating collectors are eager to pay many times the original price for some of our American Classics. They know that a well-loved McIntosh only gets better. Indeed, you wont find planned obsolescence here-most of the units we produced in the 1950s can still integrate into systems today. And, as ever, we spare no expense to work with the best mate- rials, whether that means crafting parts locally or bringing them from halfway around the world. SERVICE AND SUPPORT Each day, our customer support staff competently answers questions for owners whose components are still running strong up to thirty years or more. Our reputation rests on our customers complete satisfaction -- that's why were not only interested in what you have to say about our past, present and future products, but we've also carefully trained many Authorized Service Agencies, backing them up with our own in-house service department. Our clientele has come to expect nothing less. BUY WITH CONFIDENCE FROM AN AUTHORIZED MCINTOSH DEALER Not every retailer can carry McIntosh- we screen the firms that represent us closely to ensure that our customers can trust their expertise. We even conduct our unique McMasters program, a two-day seminar that prepares the participants to assist you. If youre already familiar with a McIntosh dealer, you can be sure that it will serve you well. If you havent found one, we'll be happy to help. You can find an Authorized McIntosh Dealer by calling (888) 979-3737, or by searching our dealer locator at www.mcintoshlabs.com. M ost consumer electronics products are necessarily viewed as short-term investments because either they dont last or they quickly become obsolete in some way. Coincidentally, manufacturers supply a steady stream of new-and-improved products that you can buy. Again. Behind every McIntosh is a heritage of excellence, proudly carried forward for more than 52 years by every employee. No mass production lines, no price-point engineering, noplanned obsolescence. McIntosh equipment is made to sound better and last longer. When McIntosh products are presented to customers, the criteria they have been conditioned to overlook -“ reliability, longevity, craftsmanship, ease of use, adaptability, pride of ownership -“ suddenly leap to the top of their list. The choice becomes clear: There is nothing like a McIntosh. GOLD PLATED INPUT AND OUTPUT CONNECTORS. The MCD205 utilizes gold plating for superior corrosion resistance. POWER CONTROL IN & OUT. Two 1/8" mini jacks are used for remote power control. A 5V DC signal from the power out jack of another piece of McIntosh equipment turns on the changer. After a short delay, a 5V DC signal appears at the power out jack of the changer that can be used to turn on an additional piece of equipment. R-CORE POWER TRANSFORMER. The special construction of the R-Core power transformer minimizes hum radiation. ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY POWER SWITCH. The MCD205 does not require a standby mode because the memories are permanent and require no power. Featured Technologies (continued) More Than a Half Century of American Ingenuity Why Choose McIntosh? The signature McIntosh glass front panel exemplifies a commitment to craftsmanship and a proud tradition of excellence. The laborious cutting and screening process spans several days and requires proprietary machinery. It would take competitors nearly 20 years to match the performance of McIntoshs very first amplifier. Frank McIntosh
