Many operational changes and improvements have also been made. For instance, there are now three ways to navigate the Wizz.9. The first method is via two on-screen buttons. One presents a device overview, while the other presents an overview of all pages under the device. The second method is by the page up/down hard buttons on the side, combined with device left/right buttons on-screen. Finally, the 4-way cursor pad can also be configured to select pages and devices, with a special toggle hard button that switches between this mode and normal device IR commands. Functional changes include full screen-configurability (system items can be added and removed), multiple page jumps, plus buttons with system function assignments (these are remote-specific operations, such as page history, backlight, etc.). Software improvements include conditional macros, new design objects such as tabs and listboxes, adjustable IRtransmission times and more! Ease of use By default, the RC5400 uses infrared (IR) to operate the programmed AV components. This means that you have to point the remote towards the device you're operating. Normally, IR signals have an operating distance of maximum 10 meter. You can choose to operate devices using radio frequency (RF) signals instead of IR signals. Depending on the circumstances, RF signals have an operating distance up to approximately 30 meter in house and can, unlike IR signals, go through obstacles like furniture and walls. The RF signals sent out by the RC5400 are pickedup by the RF extender RX-77. The RF extender translates the RF signals into the original IR signals and sends the IR signals to the appropriate component. The combination of the RC5400 with the optional RX-77 provide a great solution for an wireless multiroom or hidden system control.
