The future in your hand Marantz has taken a new bold step forward in remote control technology with the RC5400. The new generation programmable learning remote controls incorporate an extensive array of user friendly innovations and improvements, housed in a sophisticated, ergonomic design. All of your existing remotes can be replaced with one easy-to-use, feature-packed remote for complete and customized control of your entire Home Entertainment system. This model is IR/RF-capable and incorporates a new high-performance processor for sophisticated and fast control capabilities. The touch screen way The RC5400 has an improved 320x240 pixel 3.8" display with 16 gray scales that allows you to create much more realistic buttons and pictures. The bright blue backlight that lights up both the LCD and all hard buttons ensures perfect operability in the dark. The built-in pick-up sensor will switch the backlight on automatically. The digital contrast adjustment is always directly available to adjust the LCD-contrast similar to the possibilities already available on the RC3200. The units can be turned on with the manual backlight button at the side, while an integrated motion sensor will activate the LCD screen if it is lifted under an angle of 50° or more. They also wakes up either by pressing the hard buttons or by tapping the screen. Each touch screen panel is treated with an excellent anti-glare coating for significantly reduced reflection and optimized readability under different viewing angles. All the hard buttons, 18 in total, are intuitively placed for instant access and navigation between screens. 15 out of these 18 buttons are programmable for a product specific or global function. The five hard buttons at the right side of the panel are back lit with blue El foil. The RC5400 has an increased memory of 8 Mb of non volatile, flash memory. Now you will never run out of memory. Direct access buttons A total of 18 hard buttons are available to perform basic functions: The channel up/down, mute, volume up/down buttons are conveniently located at the right side of the LCD. The 4-direction cursor key can both be used for controlling devices by infrared or navigating through the devices and pages on the LCD. The four buttons are freely programmable. Of the six buttons around the cursor five can be freely assigned and labeled. User customizable hard buttons total up to 15: nearlyall of them, except for the top right hard button below the screen (a Function button) and the page up/down keys on the side. Also located on the side is a backlight button. Customize and create The RC5400 will be released with the new Touch Screen Setup editing tool for the RC5400 and RC9400 (it won't work on any other model remote). This program will let you dive headfirst in the RC5400 remote control´s brand new features. We're talking 16 grayshades, bitmap transparencies, nearly full screen editing, multiple concurrently open files and a host of other new goodies. But don´t just sit there reading this, download it as soon as possible. The RC5400 contains programmable instant surf buttons that call up any channel at the touch of a button, the ability to import channel icons and personalized graphics. Furthermore they come pre-programmed to operate a wide variety of Marantz audio and video products. In addition, they features up to 56kHz (and 455kHz) carrier frequency learning capability to operate the most popular brands of audio/video equipment. The future in mind Personalized setup can be further customized via a PC interface and Windows PC programming software that enables users to import custom animations, channel icons and even their own graphics and photos. The software package Remote Control Setup includes new functionality to help you create your configuration file, now called PCF: multi document, multi level (standard and advanced), transparency, multiple jumps in macro, full screen configurability, assignment of system functions to buttons and of course import CCF-files. We made it even more easy to hook this beauty to your PC via an USB connection. The new generation Marantz remote controls are future proof and allow you to update the software, which is downloadable at: www.marantz.com. Ease of use Many operational changes and improvements have also been made. For instance, there are now three ways to navigate the RC5400. The first method is via two on-screen buttons. One presents a device overview, while the other presents an overview of all pages under the device. The second method is by the page up/down hard buttons on the side, combined with device left/right buttons on-screen. Finally, the 4-way cursor pad can also be configured to select pages and devices, with a special toggle hard button that switches between this mode and normal device IR commands. Functional changes include full screen-configurability (system items can be added and removed), multiple page jumps, plus buttons with system function assignments (these are remote-specific operations, such as page history, backlight, etc.). Software improvements include conditional macros, new design objects such as tabs and listboxes, adjustable IR transmission times and more! Optional: RX-77 RF extender By default, the RC5400 uses infrared (IR) to operate the programmed AV components. This means that you have to point the remote towards the device you're operating. Normally, IR signals have an operating distance of maximum 10 meter. You can choose to operate devices using radio frequency (RF) signals instead of IR signals. Depending on the circumstances, RF signals have an operating distance up to approximately 30 meter in house and can, unlike IR signals, go through obstacles like furniture and walls. The RF signals sent out by the RC5400 are picked up by the RF extender RX-77. The RF extender translates the RF signals into the original IR signals and sends the IR signals to the appropriate component. The combination of the RC5400 with the optional RX-77 provide a great solution for an wireless multiroom or hidden system control.
