Faithfull reproduction The DV-12S2 is a true allrounder in every aspect and represents cutting-edge technology and innovation. Its capability reaches even further then the playback of DVD-A, DVD-V, DVD- R/RW, SACD and CD-R/RW discs, including MP3 files. For the ultimate in video performance the DV-12S2 features a top quality 108mHz/12-bit video DAC and Noise Shaped Video. For both PAL and NTSC source progressive scan is available ensuring highest resolution images. Audio excellence is assured with a 24-bit/192kHz converter and through a multitude of - Marantz unique - sound enhancements to get the best sound reproduction out of any format on a compact disc. Enjoy the perfect choice in your home entertainment environment. Build in multichannel decoders In order to benefit from the premium class analogue audio performance in the DV-12S2 we have incorporated DD, DTS and MPEG multichannel DVD-V audio decoders. Dolby Digital is an advanced form of digital audio coding that makes it possible to store and transmit high-quality digital sound, far more efficiently than was previously possible. Multi-channel SACD playback Enjoy the fabulous world of Multi channel audio! Finally you can have an incredible live-experience in your home as it was in reality. Not only the total ambiance is reproduced, but also the natural 'sound' of the instruments is being preserved. SACD is based upon the DSD conversion principle that links excellent specifications like a frequency range of 100 kHz and a dynamic range of 120 dB, to superb sound quality. It adds essential resolution and detail to the Multi channel audio setup, necessary for accurate correlation between front and rear channels. This combination of top-end audio performance and Multi- channel sound will give you a sensation that will totally change the way you experience music. DVD-Audio DVD-Audio is one of the latest formats of high standard audio. It provides ultimate 2ch performance of 24bit/192kHz or 24bit/96kHz in six channel format. The DV-12S2 will allow its owner to benefit from the full performance of DVD-AudioProgressive scan for PAL and NTSC Compared to a conventional interlaced picture, progressive scanning creates a picture signal with double the scan lines, resulting in a noticeably sharper image. The progressive image offers higher picture resolution and eliminates virtually all motion artifacts. Even on large screens, the progressive scan lines are barely noticeable and picture flickering is greatly reduced, so you can enjoy extended viewing without eye fatigue. The progressive conversion of the DV-12S2 is optimized for the high resolution and low noise of the DVD-Video format for both PAL and NTSC software. This enables the unit to preserve DVD-Video picture quality for display on all screen sizes from direct-view CRT to projectors. NTSC Progressive Scan is provided on both the DVi-D as well as on the component output. PAL Progressive is available via the DVi-D interface. NSV precisson video 108mHz / 12-bit video DAC The DV-12S2 uses Analog Devices´ NSV Precision Video 108- MHz/12-bit video digital/analog converters for very high-quality picture reproduction. As a continuation of Analog Devices´ development of enhanced picture quality, in a wide variety of applications and for many different video standards, the technology of Noise Shaped Video has been developed. This technology allows video images to be displayed at resolutions and lower effective signal to noise ratios well beyond what would be expected from the data converter by making use of the latest technological advances. The improvement takes place in parallel with the increased support to higher definition video standards including progressive scan and HDTV. DVi-D interface If you want the best you need a digital video connection. Whether you´re watching a ball game or an action-packed movie in high definition, without question, the picture quality is stunning. It could be better, though. For high definition all- digital video to look its best, the data must be transferred from your digital source to your HD display or projector in pure digital form. In order for your DVD player to do its job, it has to convert video data from the digital domain to analog, and then back to digital again. This conversion process can cause high frequency attenuation, and loss of resolution and detail. The DVi-D output on the DV-12S2 is a pure digital high bandwidth video interface. What you see on your screen is exactly what was digitally recorded. You´ll enjoy a razor sharp picture with incredible detail and vibrant, natural colors. Customised components Every Marantz product is designed with a fine ear and eye for details. The designers have to know the characteristics of every component. On paper the component might look excellent but the result may fall short of the combined design expectations. Therefore Marantz collects vast amounts of information upon specifics component performance capabilities. Marantz selects the appropriate components for the specific design application. The sonic result is then critically acclaimed by international reviewers. In other cases it's simply not possible to use standard components that meet the high Marantz standards. These components will then be specially made for Marantz only in co- operation with the Marantz engineers. As a result the DV-12S2 for example features an extensive use of unique hand-selected premium capacitors to ensure the widely acclaimed Marantz sound. HDAM on all 6 channels Audio devices are usually equipped with Op-Amps (operational amplifiers) for which Integrated Circuit (IC) are commonly used. Unfortunately these IC's do not match the very high requirements of Marantz. Marantz developed it's own discrete circuit boards to replace the IC's. These HDAM's consists of discrete surface mount components with short mirror image L/R signal paths. Those devices are doing exactly the same thing as the Op-Amps, but outperform the regular IC Op-amps dramatically in terms of the Slew Rate, resulting in a much more dynamic, accurate and detailed sound. A touch of Marantz The strenght of each Marantz design can be found in the attention to detail and cohesiveness of the different elements. The DV-12S2 is a clear example of benchmark engineering and craftmanship and features a number of Marantz sound enhancements. The DV-12S2 DVD player is built on a solid alloy, copper plated chassis. Extensive bracing, alloy side panels, a double layer steel bottom plate encased in copper and shock- absorbent feet result in minimized internal vibration and mechanically induced jitter. It incorporates leading edge digital signal processing, along with a Crystal 192 kHz/24 bit D/A converter in each of the channels. All of the digital, analogue and control circuits are separated and extensively shielded in their own enclosures to prevent cross-talk and other unwanted interference. Independent power supplies for the FL display, audio and video sections secure maximum separation, clarity and dynamics. Hand-selected high grade customised components, gold-plated terminals and a copper plated chassis all work in harmony. This design configuration is capable of a clear and powerful reproduction of the most demanding action movie soundtracks and full range (multi channels) music discs. D.Bus & RS232c To optimize equipment in terms of ease of use, Marantz has designed the D.Bus system. Individual devices inform each other in order to automatically tune to the customers demands. Also received remote control commands are communicated via this bus. This enables equipment without IR-receiver to be controlled via a Marantz Remote control. The addition of the RS232c port allows the DV-12S2 to be integrated with a number of control systems such as AMX and Crestron. Via this interface two-way communication is possible to control and get status feedback for example. -– User manual -– Remote control -– Batteries -– AV cable -– D.Bus cable -– Power cable RC-12DV Bypacked Accessories
