JVC Adds New Colorand
Depth to Your Stereo listening.

Right in your own home, you can now enjoy the richer depth and
realism achieved in professional sound studios. thanks to the all-
new JVC ECA-IOZ 'Radar Screen Reverberation Amplifier. Simply
hook it up to the tape recording and playback terminals of your
amplifier or receiver, and everything you hear takes on an enrich-
ed vibrance and realism-radio broadcasts. discs, tapes. even y0ur
Own voice. A double pickup-type unit with a reverberation time
significantly better than any similar product now available. the
compact, solid state ECA-102 is crammed with advanced cir-
cuitry, to achieve such outstanding performances characteristics
as a S/N ratio of 70dB while restricting distortion to a miniscule
0.2% or less. One of the very few reverberation amplifiers you
can find with a mixing control circuit, the ECA-102 can handle
two tape recorders simultaneously and permits adding the pleas-
ing echo chamber effect either during recording or playback. It
can even permit the surround stereo effect so much in demand
today. Off, the ECA-102 has the look of a TV screen test pattern,
but in use it takes on the appearance of a colorful radar screen.

ing pleasure and to enhance the overall appearance of your stereo
system. The ECA-102 from JVC. The 'Rader Screen' Reverberation
Amplifier that lets you zero on the big sounds of stereo today.

Sophisticated Reverberation Effect

The ECA-IOZ represents an important advance in the achievement
of more realistic reverberation or echo chamber effects. This is be-
cause, unlike the old single pickup type reverberation amplifiers,
the double pickup ECA-102 is able to coordinate the sound from

more natural and realistic than was heretofore possible.

0 to 3 Second Reverberation Time

A graphic front panel sliding time control can be moved up or
down to minimize or maximize the time delay between the instant
the reverberation effect is added and when it is actually heard.
This continuously adjustable control also permits regulating the
duration of the reverberation effect from zero to 3 seconds. a
significantly better span than that of any other similar unit on the
market.

Radar Screen' Reverberation Indicator

Green and white blips" light up on the ECAo102's "Radar
Screen reverberation indicator as the degree of reverberation is
intensified, and form a KALEIDOSCOPIC pattern around the red
eye in the center. The colorful effect fades as reverberation is
reduced, and pales to a series of grey concentric circles when the
unit is turned off. You know at a glance whether the system is
In use.

Unprecedented Versatility

There are any number of ways in which the ECA-102 can c0ntribo
ute to greater stereophonic listening pleasure. And watching
pleasure, too. It permits the special echo chamber effect to be
added to the signals from a tape recorder, a disc. a radio broad-
cast. even to the sound of your own voice. Another special virtue
is that the ECA-lOZ permits simultaneous recording and monitor-
ing of these enriched sounds with a three-head tape recorder.
With a two-head tape recorder y0u can monitor the 50und as it
is about to be recorded. And the unit's twin tape monitor circuits
permit the more COmplex chore of adding reverberation to the
sound from one tape recorder while simultaneously monitoring it
and rerecording it on the other. or adding it to both tape recorders
simultaneously. The tape decks may. of course, be any type-reel-
to-reel. cassette. cartridge player.

Surround Stereo Effect

The ECA-102 is complete with a front panel push-button mode
selector which. when in 4-channel use. permits connecting a sec-
ond amplifier, to which a second pair of speakers can be hooked.
When so employed, a quasi 4-channel or surround stereo effect
can be achieved. and the numeral 4 will appear in Green at "one
o'clock" above the radar screen indicator.

Add Reverberation When You Wish .

Unlike some less sophisticated products of this type. the JVC
ECA-102 allows you to add reverberation effects whenever you
wish. either during recording or during playback. A front panel
Tape Mode Selector governs this function.

Microphone Mixing Possible

The ECA-102 is complete with a built.in microphone mixing cirCuit
and a front~panel microphone jack. so you can mix y0ur voice with
the signal from the line input or tape monitor terminals. And you
can also add reverberation to the resultant sound to produce from
a single microphone a lively, exciting effect very akin to 4-channel
stereo sound. This can be accomplished by a simple adjustment
of the Reverberation Time Control.
