IMPORTANT: Follow this Pictorial
ONLY if you were furnished a CTC type
312-12 pwer transistor (#4l7-803).

CAUTION: Handle the power transktor,
particularly the stud, with care.

portion of a CTC 312-12 transistor
into the hole shownr Position the
lead with the cutoff corner as
shown. Form the leads down against
the foil for as much of their length
as possible. Solder each lead to the
foil. Carry the solder up as close as
possible to the transismr body to
reduce the effective length of the

OPERATION

Operetion of the Model HIM-201 2-Meeer Annlifler is entirely eueometlc. When
the excite!- ls keyed, the automatic Interim switch centers the power input to
the emplifier. The euuaut of the ernplifier is connected to the antenna. In the
receive mode, signals ere peeled mimt throufli the circuitry to the associated
receiver.

1h imareemecting shielded cebles between the trmsceiver end the Amplifier
ere cut to en odd multiple of quefler wavelength: to minimize tune-up problems.

IN CASE OF DIFFICULTY

1. Make sure there ere from 12 to 16 supply volts present at the power
connector.

2. The miorlty of the kits that ere returned tor repelr do not function
properly due to poor connectim end soldering. Meny eroubles an be
elimineted by carefully reheating ell connection: to make sure they ere
soldered es dewibed in the Soldellng section of the "Kit Builders Guide."

3. Mthevelueeofdte pens innelled.Besur-0mthepmperpenhu
been wired into the circuit for eech step as shown in the Pictoriel
diagram.

4. Recheck the wiring. It is frequently helpful to have I friend check your
work. Someone who is not iamilier with the unit may notice something
consistently ovenooked w the builder.

5. Check for bits of solder, wire ends. or other foreign mutter which may be
lodged in the wiring.

1.

Make xure all excess lead lengths have been clipped from the foil tide of
the circuit beerd. Undipped leads could cum I short circuit from the
circuit boerd to the chesie.

A review oi the "Circuit Description" rney prove helpful in initiating
where to look for trouble.

When e component (01. 02. 83. etc.) is mentioned in the "Possible
Curse" column of the "Troubleshotlnfi Chen." check that specific
component to make sure it operates properly, together with than pens
connected tolt.

in en extreme case where you are unable to retain a difficulty. reier to
