servtrcontrolled subwooler. With 500 watts of

power behind a unique 1 3 servcrcontrolled
metal cone woofer, the (ienesis 900 is not only able to
accurately reproduce the what k and feel of a bass drum or
the body of a double bass, but can almost lift vou off the
couch as T-Rex shudders through your living room.

The Inside Story

The secret behind the 900s stitc ess lies in its metal cone
wooter and in its accelerometer-l)ased servo-s stem.

Traditional powered subwoofer designs tvpicallv rely on
large, cumbersome and heavy woofers in ported Iventedl
boxes to c reate their low frequencies. The problem with
these c lasstc designs is that they are slow and unrespon-
sive to musical transients. While they do produce lots of
bass and boom, they cannot accurately and faithfully
reproduce their input signals. You "hear" these subwoofers
in a very unnatural way. To further exacerbate their prob-
lems, the woofer cabinets are typically vented Mith a hole
in the em losuret causing an out of phase signal to appear
at the output of the vent. While this increases the level of

bass at certain frequencies, the signal is out of time with
where it should be. The ear is very sensitive to these types

of timing errors.

that is mounted directly to the woofer, and by
placing this elec'tronicallywc orrectecl and powered
woofer in a sealed box. The advantages of using Genesis
servo technology are manv: precise and accurate tran»
sient response, in-phase performance and lightning tast
movement of the woofer.

Another key element in the design of a servo-controlled
woofer system is a powerful amplifier to drive the
woofer. To accomplish this task, the Genesis (mt) comes
complete with a 500 watt, fully remote controlled
(iSAT servo amplitier. Based on a unique technology
pioneered by Cenesis's own Arnie Nudell, the 901]
(SSAT is a fully discrete MOSFET switching amplifier
that is more than three times as efficrent as a traditional
power amplifier and is 100% linear in its operation,
Using (LSAT technology to power the 900 means
greater slam in the bass, while maintaining near perfect
transient response and harmonic integrity.
