Floating Chassis

Floor vibration and acoustic
feedback are frequent external
sources of interference.
Vibrations can be transmitted
to the record player with each
step. and sound energy from
the loudspeakers can be fed
back acoustically to the recon]
player through the air or
through a piece of furniture. To
minimize these unwanted
effects. the Dual CS 505-2
uses a floating chassis. In the
Dual CS 5052, a great deal of
technical expertise has been
applied to acoustically decouple
the entire turntable drive unit
from the remainder of the

casing. As a result. external
interference is filtered out so
effectively that it no longer has
any audible effect on the music
reproduction. The acoustic
pattern remains clear.
especially in the low and
middle frequency ranges. which
are particularly susceptible to
muddying from external
causes.

Anti-Resonance Turntable Mat
This new mat design filters out
and counteracts resonances
which can be transmitted
through the record player to
the record. A most important
factor is that the underside of
the acoustically inert
(amorphous rubber) mat
conforms perfectly to the
contours of the turntable. The
contact surface of the top side
of the mat supports the playing
area of the record. This
eliminates air gaps between the
mat and the record. minimizing
resonances which could
otherWIse arise.

Tone Arm with Gimbal
Beanngs

After all this attention to noise
elimination. all that remains is
to ensure that the tracking is
excellent. From a design point
of view. there is nothing better
in this regard than a tone arm
with gyroscopic gimbal
bearings. Being
counterbalanced in every plane.
