The power switch is designed for connecting preampliliars
or power amplifiers so that they can be switched on or off
automatically by the on-off operation of the 701. The ad-
ditional power switch load must not exceed 400 VA.
The connection is made via the special contacts on the plug
element of the power switch. For this use. the power supply
cable must be equipped with AMP jacks.

Connection to
Amplifier

If you have a combination unit. the turntable and amplifier are
usually already connected.

The phone cmle of the turntable can be equipped either
with DlN 41 524 miniplugs (Fig. 81, or with Cynch (RCA
plugs (Fig. 91. This able connects the turntable to the
PHONO MAGNET input jack of your amplifier or receiver.

In case your amplifier is equipped with a different input
jack. mpropriata adapters must be used. Your Dual dealer
will inform you mrdingly.

If your amplifier does not have an input for magnetic
cartridges, an aqualizenpraamplifier must be used.

We recommend in this cam the HiFi equalizer-preamplifier
Dual TVV 47. which is provided with jacks and which can
be connected directly to the power switch of your Dual
701.

Power line frequency 60 or 60 Hz

Only the illuminated strobe needs adaptation to the 50 or
60 Hz power line (requencues. It is accessible after the
platter has been removed.

Stylus

In normal use, every stylus is subject to wear and tear. We
recommend that it be inspected occasionally, but certainly
after approximately 300 playing hours in case at diamond
styli. Your Dual dealer will do this without charge. Worn or
damaged (chipped) styll will grind the modulation out of
the record grooves and damage the records. In case of
replacement. obtain only the stylus type recommended
in the Technical Data lor the cartridge. imitations cause
noticeable loss in sound quality and rapid record wear.

Please keep in mind that the stylus holder with the diamond
tip is necessarily quite delicate in order to provide quality
performance. It is, therefore, extremely sensitive to harsh
handling, accidental touch. blows, etc. Take the cartridge in
the holder to your Dual dealer for inspection of the stylus.

Tonearm counterbalance with two anti-resonance
filters

The tonearm ol the Dual 101 meets all the requirements for
today's record players: maximum rigidity with lowest
etlective mass, and practically negligible bearing friction
in the vertical and horizontal planes.

Studies of vibrations resulting from tonearm mass. weight.
and compliance of the cartridge have shown that a special
design of the tonearm oounterbalancecan increase tracking
ability considerably, namely when the tonearm counter-
balance is designed to absorb vibration energies within the
resonant ranges oi tonearm and chasls.

For this reason, the inner section of the counterbalance is
tuned to the tonearm resonance and has. due to in~phase
opposed vibrations. an anti-resonance eilect. By excitation
of the tonearm within the resonance area- for example.
through high-pitch playing of a record etc.~ energy Vibrations
between tonearm and anti-resonator are eliminated. The
outer part of the counterbalance. designed as a higher
tuned anti-resonator, prevents the transmission of chassis
resonances to the tonearm.
