You are now the proud owner of the compact but powerful Crate GX-20M/R amplifier. Two
versatile channels -“ one crystal clear and the other with our patented Flex-Wave distortion -“
combined with reverb, a three-band EQ and a switchable Chorus (GX-20M) offer you more flex-
ibility and performance than any amp in its class. A special damping circuit simulates the cur-
rent source type of output of a tube amp, giving you solid state reliability combined with clas-
sic tube sounds.
Like all Crate products, your GX-20M/R is designed by musicians, and built using only
the best components. Extensive testing insures you that this amplifier is the absolute best
it can be.

1: INPUT: Use this 1/4 jack to connect your
guitar to the amplifier by means of a shielded
instrument cable.
OVERDRIVE CHANNEL: A high gain chan-
nel giving you sounds from a slight edge to
serious overdrive.
2: GAIN:Use this control to adjust the amount
of distortion for the Overdrive channel.
3: LEVEL:Use this control to adjust the out-
put level of the Overdrive channel.
4. OVERDRIVE SELECT:This switch, when
depressed, selects the Overdrive channel.
The Clean channel is selected when this
switch is in the out position.
CLEAN CHANNEL: A normal gain channel
giving you sounds from crystal clean to medi-
um overdrive.
5: LEVEL:Use this control to adjust the out-
put level of the Clean channel.
6: LOW:Use this control to adjust the bass
response of the amplifier. Rotating the control
counterclockwise reduces the low frequency
output. Rotating the control clockwise increas-
es the low frequency output. It may be neces-
sary to reduce the Low frequency output at
higher volume levels.
7: MID: Use this control to adjust the
midrange frequency output of the amplifier.
Rotating the control counterclockwise
reduces the midrange frequency output.
Rotating the control clockwise increases the
midrange frequency output.
8: HIGH: Use this control to adjust the high
frequency response of the amplifier. Rotating
the control counterclockwise reduces the high
frequency output. Rotating the control clock-
wise increases the high frequency output.9: REVERB LEVEL:Use this control to
adjust the amount of reverb applied to the
output signal.
10. CHORUS:This switch, when depressed,
applies the built-in chorus effect to the output
signal.
11: HEADPHONES:Use this jack to connect
headphones to the amplifier. The internal
speaker is disconnected when this jack is
used. A line level signal can also be obtained
from this jack for recording, etc.
CAUTION: To avoid possible damage to
your hearing, so not use headphones for
extended periods of time at extremely loud
levels.
12: EXTERNAL SPEAKER:Use this jack to
connect the amplifier to an external speaker.
The internal speaker is disconnected when
this jack is used. The impedance of the exter-
nal speaker must be 4 ohms or greater.
WARNING: Do not attempt to use head-
phones in the Speaker jack! Permanent
hearing damage could result!
13: ON LED:This LED illuminates when the
amplifier is turned on.
14: POWER:Use this switch to turn the
amplifier on (top of the switch depressed) and
off (bottom of the switch depressed).
15: POWER CORD (rear panel, not
shown):The grounded power cord should
only be plugged into a grounded power outlet
that meets all applicable electrical codes and
is compatible with the voltage, power, and fre-
quency requirements stated on the rear panel.
Do not attempt to defeat the safety ground
connection.
