INSTALLATION & OPERATION MANUAL
FOR

BOZAK MODEL CMA-lO-ZDL
PROFESSIONAL MIXER

While the Bozak CMA-lO-ZDL, a professional mixer/preamplifier, is intended for disco-
theque use, it lends itself to such other applications as broadcast stations, back-
ground music and paging systems equally as well. It has four stereo inputs, 2 mag-
netic phone, 2 high level and 2 low Z mono mic inputs. Any two or all inputs can be
mixed. A cue circuit independent of the main outputs and input level controls is
provided for cuing up any one of the four stereo inputs without affecting the program
being fed to the power amplifiers. There is separate EQ (bass and treble) for both
left and right outputs as well as balance controls for each of the 4 stereo inputs.
The mic inputs are switchable to either left or right or both outputs. A stereo tape
output is incorporated in the CMA~lO-ZDL, also included is an external signal process-
ing loop to allow the use of equalizers, limiters, etc.

The circuits used, are state of the art, utilizing highest quality parts throughout
including Type "J" level controls. low noise silicon transistors, military grade PC
boards and low leakage tantalum capacitors. A fully regulated 40V power supply in-
sures stable operation under fluctuating line voltage conditions. Plug-in stereo
circuit boards are used throughout, allowing updating and simplifying repairs.

This newly designed and improved CMA-lO-ZDL is a fourth generation mixer that has
received wide acceptance as the best mixer for discotheque use as well as other appli-
cations requiring the facilities found in the CMA-lO-ZDL.

INSTALLATION

Installation of the CMA-lU-ZDL should be accomplished by a competent installer. The
following procedures should be followed.

- Source equipment (tuner, phonos, tapes and mics) should be plugged into the
appropriate labeled inputs on the rear of chassis. A ground post is provided
for turntable grounding wires.

- The CMA-lO-ZDL can be mounted in any position by use of the front panel
mounting holes only.

- The power cord should be plugged into a 3 wire grounded outlet only, of 120V AC
50-60Hz.

- The main outputs should be connected directly to the power amplifiers or through
auxiliary equipment ahead of the power amplifiers.

- Input and Output leads should be kept as short as possible to avoid any disturb-
ance from AC power lines and pick-up of hum and noise. Shielded input leads
can be up to 10 feet and the main output leads up to 100 feet in length without
encountering high frequency losses.
