Monitor Loudspeaker
System

The 0M6 is the latest In the range of B&W
loudspeaker systems and IS the result of a
three year programme of research and
development.

It was a programme that made use of
instruments and measuring techniques that
had themselves been only recently
developed. and mm for the very first time.
allowed both the phase response and the
transient decay phenomena to be quantified
In a loudspeaker system,

M a result. the major features of the OMB are
three entirely new drive units developed by
B&W, which are currently being produced
under conditions of strict quality control,

in our own factory

The bass unit achieves a level of perform-
ance that would normally only be
associated with a cabinet of much larger

capacity than the 51 litres of the DMS
System resonance is less than 4OHz. 0
approximately 0 8

The midrange unit employs materials and
technology that are totally new. The cone
assembly consists of a matrix of aromatic
polyamide fibresformed and impregnated
with critical quantitIes of PVA (patents
applied for) and shows significant
Improvements In both transrent and
conventional measurements

Finallythe new high frequency transducer is
also able to show improvements equivalent
to those achieved In the midrange unitand
linearly extends the frequency response to
40 kHz.

Afurther innovation has been the integration
of these three new units into a linear or
substantially minimum phase system. by

mounting them In a stepped arrangement,
after skillful shaping of the front baffle. in
order to allow for the different arrival times
of the various components And when a
series of linear Impedance first order filter
configurations are introduced. new levels of
linear phase and amplitude characteristics
are achieved for the entire system. as shown
In the measurements on page 4.

CabInets for the new DMG are constructed
to the same high standards that have been
applied throughoutand these are
exemplified in the use of high density
materials. Internal bracmg at critical points.
and laminating of all relevant surfaces With
bitumous antrresonant linings weighing
