Before you begin...

We muld like to thank you tor purchasing the Bose& AMS
Acou stlmass" speaker wiem. We are confident that the
advanced technology and quality construction ot the AMS
system wrll provrde you wrlh a lifetime ol musical listening
pleasure.

The operating principles and wiring configuration at the
AM-S system are srgnillcantly dillerent from those at conven-
tional speakers. This not only allows the AME system to
provrde you With great sound. out also otters placement
lleloorllty not Mrlahle lrom conventional speakers. For best
results. and an easy installation. please take the time to
read this owners guide.

Unpacking the Mil-5 System

Alter opening the canon. remove all packaging material and
carelully lilt out the components at the AM-S wstem. Save
all the canons and packing material in case the system
needs to be transported at a later time It any or the corn
ponents appear damaged. do not attempt to use the
system. Instead. repack the syoem in its original canon
and notity your authorized Bose dealer immediately.

Setting Up the System

The AMAS system alters many advantages not available lrom
a conventional speaker system, For one. the mam adlusts
to deliver the combination ol reflected and direct sound opti-
mal lor any listening environment. For another, the system
delivers this lrlelrhe combination ol reflected and direct sound
while usmq very little at your livrng space.

Betore you can install and adiusl the system '5 components.
tale a minute to lamilianze yourself with them. Your system
should include:

2 Cube speaker arrays
l Acoustimass module (the larger ulack cabinet}
4 Wires

A Select the location where you intend to place the tell and
right cutie speaker arrays. Note that wires from the arrays
connect to the Acoustrmass module. so you should
locale the cube speaker arrays so that the wires will reach
the location you chose lor the module

Note: While the wires provided are adequate lor most instal»
latrons. you may increase the distance oehveen the cube
speaker arrays and the Acoustimass module by splicing in
additional wire it you do so. use Similar gauge or thicker
wire, and male sure you maintain the correct phase [" + " to

+ and - to - 'l. and properly connect the wires

ity By posrttoning the bottom cube and rotating the top
cone d each cube spealoer array. you can adiust the
spatial balance ol your system to match your room or
musical taste

Though there is no correct position for the cube
speaker arrays or the angle between them the most
lilelilre sound Will he achieved by providing a balance at
direct and reflected sound. Figure 1 shows some typical
installations. and suggested posirons.

are spaced 6 lo 12 lee! apart (approximately 183.6 to).
However. you can still achieve excellent results with sepa-
ration as little as 3 test (approximately 1 m) or as great as
15 feet (approximately 4 5 m). Note that when you are
usrng a balance at rellecteo and direct sound. the swrtch
on the back at the lower cone of each array should be set
to the Heflected' posrnon.

Note: For video applications. sepamtron can be less than 3
