The Model Hve utilizes a novel technique: It employs
three drivers in a two-way system; a single bass driver,
but two drivers for high frequencies instead of one. The
result is increased midhand sensitivity. 91.5 dB SPL at 4
feet. which is quite high for a speaker system in the
Five's price range. And. since the high~frcquency energy
is evenly divided between two drivers instead ofjust one.
system power capacity is increased over single driver
designs. The drivers are positioned on the baffle in a
manner that produces uniform dispersion and an accu-
rate stereo image whether the cabinet is placed vertically
or horizontally.

The vented enclosure and 12-inch bass driver combine
to produce excellent low-frequency energy response to
45 H1. Fundamentals are tight and clear. with a min-
imum of distortion. and without doubling or artificially
accentuated upper bass frequencies. The Five eliminates
the "hoominess" so prevalent in other speaker systems
in its price range.
The hand-rubbed. genuine oiled walnut cabinet is tastefully
styled with finished ballle and removable knit grille.
