Congratulations on your purchase of the RLT 1 Remote Line Preamplifier.
Please read this brief owners manual. Upon completion. you will understand
the set-up and operation of your new preamplifier.

OPERATION UTILIZING
REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS FRONT PANEL CONTROLS

AUDIO INPUTS-Connect your source
to the corresponding input jack on the
rear panel, Before inserting or remov-
ing any connectors be certain both
the preamp and power amp are OFF.
The audio output of a video source
can be connected to any input.

AUDIO OUTPUTS- Connect the input
of your tape recorder to the tape
outputs an the back panel of the
preamp Connect the input of your
power amp to either preamp output
connector. Two preamp outputs are
provided to facilitate the use of two
power amps if desired.

AC INPUT- Plug the female end of
the provided AC line card into the
3-pronged IEC socket on the rear
panel.

Ac POWER OON'IIIOL OUTPUT-
Plug the Optional A01 20 Power
Controller into the AC Power Control
Output Jack, using the mini-phone
plug supplied with the outlet box.

When connected, this will allow the
turn-on/otf of your entire audio system
by simply turning on/off your RLI I .

The AC switching is performed exter»
nally to eliminate the additional noise
associated with high current AC
power in proximity to the sensitive
analog circurtry.

MUTE/ POWER SWHON-When the
power switch is rotated clockwise
(towards TOWER"). the LED will flash
red for approximately 3 seconds
(indicating power up and mute conv
difions) then turn green. indicating
that the preamp is in operating mode.

Rotating the power switch clockwise
with the RLI I on, will shut the pream»
plifier off and the LED will go out.

In all cases, even in the power off
mode, an idle current is passed
through the sensitive analog circuitry
to maintain proper operating temper»
ature for Optimum sonic quality.

VOLUME CONTROL-To increase
volume. rotate volume control clock-
wise. At any given position of the
volume control the actual volume
may differ from source to source due
to different output levels of different
sources. Therefore. prior to changing
source or recording we suggest you
fully lower the volume control and
re-adjust to the desired listening level.

BALANCE CONTROL-Rotating the
balmce control clockwise from rls
center position will decrease the
output of the left speaker. Rotating
the balance control counterclock»
wise will decrease the output of the
right speaker.

USTEN SWITCH-By rotating this knob
you select the source for listening.
Clockwise from the left, the
sequence is; TAPE 1, TAPE 2. AUX,
TUNER, D/A. CD,

RECORD SWITCH-By rotating this
knob you select the source you wish
to record from. Clockwise from the
left the sequence is; CD. D/A, TUNER
AUX, TAPE 2, TAPE I. This allows you
the convenience of listening to one
source while recording from another.

OPERATION UTILIZING
HAND HELD REMOTE CONTROL

When using the remote control, the
RLII LED will flash green and red indi-
cating that the remote control is
communicating with the RLI I pre-
amplifier.

. POWER-By pressing the power
button on the Hand Held Remote
Control, the LED will flash red for
approximately 3 seconds (indicating
powerup and mute conditions) then
turn green, indicating that the
preamp is in operating mode.

Pressing the Power button when the
preamp is on, will shut the power off
and the LED will go out.

0 MUTE-When the power is on.
pressing the mute button will mute
the output and change the LED
from green to red. .

By pressing the button a 2nd hme.
the preamp will disengage the mute
circuit and change the LED to green.

A V VOLUME-By pressing the
volume control buttons the volume
knob will turn thus raising or lowering
the preamp output.

Special Note: When the RLI I is in
mute, the volume cannot be raised
using the Hand Held Remote, however
the volume can be lowered.

F BALANCE-By pressing the
balance control buttons, the
balance knob will rotate, indicating
a shift in balance to the left or right
from center.
